INTRODUCTION TO GREEN TECHNOLOGY
A sustainable or green building is the efficient utilization of resources to design, create
and construct environmentally sustainable or energy - efficient residential and commercial
buildings.
1. WHY GREEN TECHNOLOGY FOR MAKING BUILDINGS?
In today's' world of global warming and critical climate changes the demand for
sustainable or energy -efficient buildings is increasing rapidly. The concept of green building in
the construction industry is proliferating due to various adverse effect associated with the
traditional technology used in the construction process (Zuo & Zhao, 2014). For building a
sustainable or energy -efficient buildings it is important to develop and implement a green design
which can help the construction industry to adopt green technology.
Advantages of Green building:-
Low maintenance and cost were efficient:-
Energy efficiency
Water efficiency
Material efficiency
Preserving infrastructure
Protecting ecosystem and environment
High ROI rates
Conserve natural resources.
Disadvantages of Green building:-
Non -availability of Green building Materials
More time required to design and builds a green structure.
Difficult to regulate the temperature inside the house as it is dependent on natural
ventilation.
It is always difficult to find a feasible location for making green building, especially in
humid and moist areas.

2. PROCESS AND DIAGRAM
2.1 Processes
It can be expressed that the process of green building starts with pre-design which is
considered as the first stage of the process. Here, activities such as identification of project
requirement, development of building a program, analysis of construction sites, etc. are carried
out. In the second stage of concept design, high-level decisions are taken with an objective to
provide direction and additional guidelines to the complete process of design. The third stage
consists of the process which is design development and here specifications linked with
materials; design, mechanism, etc. are being determined. In the stage of final design and
documentation, the last iteration of the building is developed. Here, the main emphasis is laid on
ensuring the fact that the building remains sustainable and feasible.
In the stage of construction, the focus is laid on developing the project and converting the
selected design into reality. Furthermore, quality control methods are also taken into
consideration to ensure long term sustainability of the building. In the last stage of operations
and maintenance the building gets occupied and it posses all the necessary things and equipment
which are being required.

3. BENEFITS TO TECHNOLOGY TO CB11
It can be stated that green building is going to provide wide ranges of benefits to CB11.
For example, the Faculty of Engineering and IT Building will be able to carry out more effective
and the best possible utilization of resources, energy, and water. Furthermore, green building
technology will also play a vital role in protecting the health of occupant and enhancing their
overall productivity. Another key benefit associated with the use of green technology is that it
will assist in environmental protection. The use of the green building will directly assist in
ensuring the fact that no negative or adverse impact is made on the environment. In addition to
this, the use of green building technology will support in Faculty of Engineering and IT Building
to operate in more economical manner. The consumption of energy and other related resources
will be reduced within CB11 with the use of green building technology, and this will directly
contribute to the long term sustainability of Faculty of Engineering and IT Building. The use of
selected technology provides benefits which are beyond areas such as economic and
environment. It means that the chosen technology will also support CB11 in social development

such as increasing the overall cognitive score or brain functioning of faculty and students within
CB11. At the same time, it will have the positive impact on the health and well being of the
entire people living in and nearby the Faculty of Engineering and IT Building.
4 .ROLE OF GREEN TECHNOLOGY IN REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT:-
Green building plays a significant role in reducing adverse environmental impact of
buildings. Construction of a building deploys a vast amount of resources such as energy and
water consumption, land use which also causes atmosphere and air alteration. As a result, it has
become essential to reduce the overconsumption of natural resources and amount of pollution
emitted during the construction of buildings (Kibert, 2016). Green building uses certain
techniques which reduce the negative impact on the environment and human health. It mainly
targets on the efficient utilization of renewable resources such as Active solar, using sunlight
through passive solar, photovoltaic techniques and setting up green roofs, minimizing rain water
run -off, rain gardens, etc. Green buildings can significantly improve the air quality which helps
in reducing various illnesses. The materials used in the green building often reduce the noise
pollution which helps in increasing the productivity of employees in offices. The advantages of
efficient designed green buildings on the environment are that they consume less energy and
water resources, decrease per capita emissions, and generate the very minimal amount of waste.
5. RECOMMENDATIONS
It can be recommended that the further improvements can be carried out in the existing
design and operations of the building. It will directly contribute to the long term sustainability of
the building. It is suggested that performance based design can be taken into consideration and as
a replacement of traditional building design process. It means that performance based goals can
be developed during the early stages of the project. It can also be suggested that the project
manager, architect and other related individuals should focus on developing vision statements
before starting the projects. Furthermore, specific objectives linked to the design, operations, and
maintenance can be developed. It is also recommended that performance management can be
developed and used to ensure that the efforts are being invested in the right and appropriate
directions. In future maintenance can also be carried out effectively with the help of monitoring

program. It is suggested that appropriate strategy of surveillance can be developed to identify the
loop holes and then corrective measures should be taken to eliminate the defined loop holes.
