Critical review
Success in the realization of the sustainable development goals
is dependent on how well the efforts are guided and resources are directed. If the international
community can agree on a reliable indicator framework and commit, it will be possible monitor
the progress of the sustainable goals of 2016. Also, the implemented action can be evaluated and
refined. The inaugural report on the sustainable development goals of 2016 shows the point
where the world is as we forge forward to realize 2030 goals. The report discusses various
selected indicators from the global indicator framework. The data on the global indicator
framework is available and used to point out vital gaps and challenges. The sustainable
development goals indicators agreed in March 2016 by the UN Statistical Commission will be
refined and improved. This will be possible as the methods and data availability enhances.
Establishing the collect path and milestones requires the accessibility reliable disaggregated data
promptly. There is a big challenge to the sustainable development goals due to the unprecedented
data. There need be a creation of national statistical capacity to learn where we have reached as
we look forward to the sustainable development goals of 2030. Some of the SDGs of 2016
include the need to end poverty in all its forms and hunger and also achieve food security

without forgetting the need to improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. Other
outlined goals include access to quality education, clean water and sanitation and the
affordability of clean energy. Climate action is also one of the key goals and maintaining peace,
justice, and strong institutions.
Influence way of thinking and action on sustainable development
The report on the sustainable development of 2016 has impacted my knowledge as I can see that
most stakeholders are committed to the cause. I have come to realized that the universal
dimension of the SDGs is fairly well understood. Data from reporting nations show their
commitment to the implementation of the SDGs domestically. Erna Solberg, the Norway Prime
Minister, affirmed that the SDGs had made every nation a developing one. This translates to
handwork towards equity and environmental responsibility. This report has revolutionized my
thinking, and I can say the realization of SDGs is dependent on everyone of us.
Most nations are starting localization processes to integrate global SGDS in their public policies.
This is being done by mapping the existing plans and gap analysis. For example, this has been
witnessed in Finland where they have seen the need to focus on climate and jobs. Another
example is Egypt who has incorporated sustainable development objectives in its constitution. I
think that more effort is required in assessing the synergies and trade-offs between the state
priorities and to ensure policy coherence in the national agenda.
Many nations have realized the essence of the whole-of-government approaches. An example is
the design of strategies such as Egypt vision 2030 or Madagascar's National Development plan
used in integrating approaches across the policy spectrum. Policymakers have claimed that it is

challenging and coordinating bodies needs political clout to get it done. I have come to
understand the sustainable development strategy and low-carbon strategy.
I have come to understand that there should be the emphasis on being inclusive. There should be
consultation on national agendas in reporting nations. Civil societies should be empowered.
Sustainable development goals have made me think that initiatives should be straightforward and
aimed at building robust and inclusive monitoring and accountability frameworks. There has
been a renewal of indicators used in tracking development.
Importance of global sustainable development goals reports 2016
These goals are essential and various ways. They have tried to eradicate poverty all over the
world and hence improving the standard of living. There have been steps to try and end hunger
by achieving food security and improved nutrition. All this has been done while trying to
promote sustainable agriculture. The SDGs have enhanced the protection, restoration, and
promotion of the sustainable use of the sustainable ecosystems. This has led to management of
sustainable forests, planting trees to fight desertification and reverse degradation and promoting
biodiversity.
Peace has been promoted, and societies have been included in the sustainable development and
trying to provide access to justice to all and in the formulation of effective, accountable and
inclusive institutions. SDGs have been instrumental in conserving and sustainable use of oceans,
seas, and marine resources. Commencement of the integration of these goals has helped
minimize inequality within and among nations.
Generally, SDGs have been instrumental in the development of countries. It has ensured no one
is left behind by determining those left behind. The people left behind are most likely those

affected by poverty, lack of inclusiveness, discrimination, and inequality. It has been essential by
taking into account various dynamic nature of deprivation and inequality. On this, preventive
policies have been formulated to ensure no people or groups have been left behind.
Contribution of SDGs in sustainable development.
The agenda of SDGs is a framework for people and planet to sustainable development. It has
tried to strengthen the universal peace and the eradication poverty in its forms and dimensions.
Extreme poverty has been the world greatest global problem, and SDGs have helped in trying to
tackle the vice to enhance sustainable development. It has been able to bring together all the key
players in its implementation thereby trying to free the human race from poverty and secure the
planet.
The 17 sustainable development goals and 169 targets have stimulated sustainable development
in the critical areas of the planet and humanity. People are now determined to eliminate poverty
and hunger and protection of the planet from degradation through sustainable consumption and
production. SGDs have stimulated the quest for prosperity by having economic, social and
technological progress. Various partnerships have been made through a revitalized global
partnership for sustainable development. This has been done through solidarity of all the nations
supporting this agenda. The inter-linkages and integration are vital in ensuring that the goal of
the agenda is realized.
