As mentioned in the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, the first goal is end of
poverty in all its forms everywhere. As per this goal, by the year 2030 extreme poverty for
people everywhere should be eradicated. By the year 2030, at least half of the men's proportion,
the woman and the children of almost all ages who are living in poverty should be reduced in all
the dimensions as per the national definitions. An appropriate social protection system has to be
implemented and measured and by the year 2030 a substantial coverage of the vulnerable and the
poor people has to be achieved. As far as the role of business development in ending poverty in
all its forms everywhere is concerned, it can be said that markets in the developing countries
have dramatically expanded where the volume of the funds coming from the private sectors.
Nowadays, the world has made the private sector to be one of the most significant influences of
global poverty (Sdgcompass.org. 2020). There are few groups which are disproportionately
presented among the financially poor people and face some constraints as limited access to the
production of resources and markets in terms of escaping the poverty. It consists of the people
with disabilities, women, the indigenous people and children. The businesses like the Royal
Bank of Canada can be a significant contributor in this regard. This business and its subsidiaries
operate under the brand name of RBC. It is the biggest bank of Canada consisting of the
operations such as personal banking operations, the retail investment businesses, the institutional
investors and others. The company should ensure that they meet all of the responsibilities for
respecting the human rights consisting of the rights of such groups. The business further have the
scope of taking corrective measures for addressing the constraints which are faced by such

Goal no 2- End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable
agriculture
The second goal is to end the hunger, achieve the food security and improve promoting
sustainable agriculture. According to this goal, by the year 2030 hunger should be ended having
ensured that all people can access sufficient food, nutritious food throughout the year. The goal
also implies that by 2030 there would be end of all types of malnutrition and the needs of
nutrition in the adolescent girls, the lactating women, pregnant women and other older person
will be address. Also, by the year 2030 there will be double production in agriculture field and
incomes of the indigenous people, the farmers, the pastoralists, the fisherman will be increased
along with paving way for scopes for non-farm employment and value addition(Sdgcompass.org.
2020).. In accomplishing this goal, there is a huge role of business development. The Food and
Agriculture are usually at the heart of Civilization and success. The agriculture field suffers from
many challenges and the business can contribute in solving all of these problems, end the hunger
and improve the Food and Agriculture system. In this regard the department of Agriculture and
Agri-Food can be extremely useful. It is the department of the Canadian government having the
responsibility of production governing, policy making, marketing of the farm and the agri-based
products. They should implement the sustainable practices and work in partnership with the other
actors throughout the value chain of the agriculture consisting of the production, input, return
and distribution and the empowerment of small farmers. The increasing of Agricultural
productivity and livelihoods of the farmers in the development of consumer awareness and

developing the investment on agriculture and knowledge are areas where they can contribute and
help reaching this goal.
Goal no 5- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
The third goal which is under number 5 is related to achieving gender equality and
empowering women and girls. According to this goal by the year 2030, there will be end of all
types of discrimination against women and girls everywhere. All types of violence will be
eliminated against women and girls in the public places and private places consisting of sexual
exploitation and trafficking. This also implies the elimination of harmful practices as forced
marriage, genital mutilation. It also suggests the enhancing of uses of technology, particularly the
Information and communication technology for promoting the women empowerment. The
gender equality is considered to be one fundamental human rights and it is essential for
expanding the economic growth promoting the social development and enhancing the
performance of the business. Nowadays, all of the companies have their baseline responsibilities
in terms of respecting the Human Rights consisting of the Human Rights of women
(Sdgcompass.org. 2020). The companies like Walmart can do this job successfully as they seek
to create the shared value that is the value for both the society and the business. The Walmart
Women’ Economic Empowerment (WEE) initiative can bring the philanthropy and business
together for creating scopes for women in the product supply chain in the world. The company
also has the scope of supporting women empowerment through social investment, the core
business public policy engagement and partnerships. With the growth of the business, private
sector leaders can develop and adapt practices and policies for advancing the women
empowerment in the workplaces, the communities and marketplaces. The company should and

economic growth and productive employment and decent work for all. This goal is aimed at
sustaining the per capita economic growth in line with the national circumstances. It is also
aimed at achieving higher status of economic productivity through technology, the collaborating
diversification and innovation. It also implies the promotion and development of the policies
which support the productive activities, the entrepreneurship, the decent job creation, innovation,
creativity and encouragement of the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises
(Sdgcompass.org. 2020). Since, the businesses are the engines of job creation and the growth of
economics having fostered the activities of economy through value chain, they can easily
contribute in achieving this goal. The businesses like Apple can create wide range of job
opportunities for people in the world. Apple has always been one of the biggest job creators in
the US and is responsible for almost two million jobs in all 50 states. It has history of investing
more than $50 billion along with 9,000 suppliers and manufacturers of the United States. They
can provide decent work opportunities which are good for the society also. The companies which
uphold the labour standards across their operations and the value change might face lower risk of
legal liability and reputational damage.

and foster innovation.

and sustainable industrialization along with costing innovation. As per this goal, there will be
development of reliable, resilient quality and sustainable infrastructure which will include the
trans-border infrastructure, region infrastructure for supporting the development of economy and
the wellbeing of human kind. It also consists of the aim of promoting sustainable
industrialization by the year 2030 having raised the share of employment and the GDP. It is also
aimed at increasing the access of the small scale industrial enterprises particularly in terms of
developing countries to the financial services consisting of and affordable credit and the
integration into the markets and the value chains (Sdgcompass.org. 2020).. The businesses can
commit to a sustainable industrialization and promote the innovation across the businesses. The
companies like Microsoft can take up the initiative of sustainable investment starting with their

Marine resources, the seas for the sustainable development. This goal is about preventing or
reducing the marine pollution by 2050 particularly from the land based operations such as
nutrient pollution and Marine debris. It also implies that by 2020, the marine and the coastal
ecosystem should be protected and managed sustainably for avoiding any type of adverse
impacts (Sdgcompass.org. 2020).The tourism businesses such as Eagle Wing Tours can
contribute a lot in the marine life sustainability. It is found to be partnering with the Seafood
Watch and the Ocean Wise. They further encourage the rest of the industry in following the rules
