Workshop One
A. Current electricity supply chain and future electricity supply chain
I am selecting “electricity supply chain” topic in current and future time because I have
attended the workshop on this topic. I am selecting this topic because electricity is the main
need for everyone to work, live, socialize and other things. But I am finding numbers of
issues in the generation of electricity and supply of electricity to the rural area, house, and
industrial area and it is difficult to sustain the future aspect without affecting the
environment’s properties. The solar photovoltaic can be used for future sustainability in the
urban area. So, I think there is needed that some sustainable solutions must be applied by
engineers for generation and supply the electricity so, sustainability of electricity can achieve
in the future. According to Corcelli, Fabiana et al. (2018, p.37), solar photovoltaic electricity
can be used as the major solution of electricity generation and supply. This solar photovoltaic
(PV) technology is replacing the traditional fossil-based technology for generation of
electricity. I felt that this PV technology is very efficient in generation and supply of
electricity without affecting properties of the environment. So, I am thinking that PV
technology must be used in the electricity supply chain for future sustainability (Corcelli,
Fabiana et al., 2018).

B. Kitchen Appliance are environmental Sustainable or not
I am selecting “Kitchen Appliance are environmental Sustainable or not” topic because I
have attended the workshop over this topic. I am selecting this topic because the high amount
of energy is consummated by the kitchen and home appliance which is directly affecting the
future sustainability of environmental properties. I am finding that these kitchen appliances
are dissipating the lots of energy in the environment and this issue can be resolved if
hydrocarbon or cooling technology can use in the home appliance because this technique will
remove the effect of dissipating energy. I felt that that engineer must apply this solution
within a kitchen appliance for providing environmental sustainability. According to Cabeza,
Luisa F. et al. (2014, p.188), the high energy are used by numbers of countries in the kitchen
appliance such as 45% by OECD countries and 55% non-OECD countries which is
increasing the demand of energy and affecting the affecting properties of the environment. I
felt that cooling technology could use in the kitchen appliance which will reduce the heat
dissipation (Cabeza, Luisa F. et al., 2014).
C. Sustainability to Environment via Electric Car
I am selecting “Sustainability to Environment via Electric Car” topic because I have
attended the workshop on this topic. I am selecting this topic because, with the help of an
electric car, the greenhouse effect can be reduced in the present time and in the future. I am
finding that in the current time, petrol and diesel cars are using in the huge amount and these
will dissipate a huge amount of CO2 and it is increasing the greenhouse effect. I am thinking
that an electric car can use which will provide sustainability to the properties of the
environment and reduce the environmental effect. This sustainable solution can be developed
by engineers. According to Heinicke, Matthias & Wagenhaus, Gerd (2015, p.105), the
current time four wheelers are generating lots of CO2 in the environment which is affecting
the sustainability of the environment. So, to fulfil the need for sustainability, the electric car
can use which will not generate such type of energy (CO2). I felt that the electric car is a
good idea to resolve the greenhouse effect and provide sustainability to the properties of the
environment (Heinicke, Matthias & Wagenhaus, Gerd, 2015).

Workshop Second
A. Ecosystem Services Site Visit
I am selecting “Ecosystem Services” topic because I have attended the site visit workshop
on this topic. I am selecting this topic because the ecosystem services can easily understand
and people will get benefits from the ecosystem. I am finding that ecosystem services are
providing numbers of benefits to the human and human can gain these benefits from the
natural environment. I am finding the so many services of the ecosystem such as clean air,
fresh water, regulation of climate, and etc. I am finding that these ecosystem services can be
divided into different types such as supporting services, provisioning services, regulating
services, and cultural services. The supporting services are using for maintaining the quality
of soil and etc. The provisioning services are providing ecosystem services such as natural
medicines, biochemical and etc. The regulating services are providing ecosystem services
such as climate regulation, quality regulation, water regulation and etc. The cultural services
are providing non-material types of benefits which can be obtained by people from the
ecosystem.
Figure 3: Ecosystem services

I am finding that soil is providing the numbers of ecosystem services to the human society
and I am also finding that ecosystem services of soil are affected due to the erosion of the soil
and cutting of the tree. This is also affecting the water level of the earth and it is also
affecting the productivity of the environment. I am also finding that due this, the climate of

the earth is changing with a high rate which is affecting the natural system and it is losing the
ecosystem services and the lives of human are impacting. So, I can say that these issues are
indirectly affecting the lives of human beings. I think that these issues can be resolved if
some Hannover principle will apply to the properties of the environment such as
1. Waste material must be decomposed at the right place and not spread out over the public
and historical places which will reduce the erosion of soil.
2. Every people must understand their responsibilities and reduce the cutting of trees. So,
these decrease the erosion of soil and ecosystem services.
3. The awareness about the environment and ecosystem services must provide to every
people. So, a value of ecosystem services can be understood via every person.
Figure 4: Site Visit
I am finding that engineers must consider the whole problem area of the ecosystem services
so, the future sustainability can be achieved for the ecosystem services and all the
environmental, technical, and social issues must be considered by the engineers. The
engineers must be resolved these issues on a long-term basis.
According to Su, Changhong et al. (2018, p.282), the soil is playing a very vital role in
ecosystem services which is affecting due to the erosion of soil. The soil related process and

method is very complex and sediment erosion is affecting the water and soil quality. The
erosion of soil is occurring because on-site truncates and nutrient is reducing from the soil.
This issue can be resolved if proper knowledge of ecosystem services will provide to people
and process-based type of soil ecosystem will use.

I am getting knowledge from this site visit workshop that ecosystem services are playing a
vital role in the human’s life and it affects the environmental sustainability and
environmental sustainability can achieve if Hannover principle will use in a proper manner
(Su, Changhong et al., 2018).
B. Monbiot Article
In the workshop, I have read out this article which is explaining the information of the
climate changes or breakdown that is affecting the services of the ecosystem. I am finding
these climate changes are indirectly affecting the lives of human beings. This climate change
is the emergency condition for earth and earth is facing lots of issues such as greenhouse
effect, global warming and etc. I am finding the lots of issues which are affecting the climate
of the earth and produce lots of problems such soil erosion; reduce the quality of water,
rainfall, earthquake, cyclone, and etc. I am also finding another example of climate changes
i.e. ice of the Arctic Sea is melting beyond the certain point which is increasing the sea level

and harming the services of the environment. I am finding that climate change can be stopped
if two tasks will perform such as awareness of ecosystem services and stop the destroying the
properties of the environment. I think that the engineers must be considered all the issues to
achieve the sustainability of the environment. According to Monbiot, (2018), the climate of
the earth is changing very high speed which is affecting the services of the environment and
it will affect the health of the earth. I felt that this could be resolved if awareness will provide
for ecosystem services.
C. Smart and Liveable cities
I have also attended the workshop over the “Smart and Liveable cities”. I am finding that
smart and liveable cities are containing all the facilities such new technology, social
infrastructure, quality and availability of communication knowledge. I am finding that due to
smart cities, the ecosystem or environment is destroying and that is affecting the health of the
earth. I felt that these issues could resolve if proper knowledge of traffic flow, use of energy,
the importance of ecosystem services and other information about the services of the
ecosystem. I felt that engineers must create a proper solution for the sustainability of the
environment. According to Gomes, Danielo G. (2015, p. 45), the smart cities are creating
issues for the environment and destroying the services of the ecosystem which can be
resolved if proper awareness will provide for services of the ecosystem (Gomes, Danielo G.,
