In the current business world, sustainability has become a critical element determine the branding
and marketing of companies. It is evident that most companies have realized that customers are attracted
to brands that value environmental and ethical sustainability, hence the growth of eco-conscious business
operations. It is for this reason that most businesses have invested in going green through different
strategies. For instance, use of solar energy and new technologies that reduce the cause and effects of
environmental pollution. Notably, there have been advancements in industries such as motor industries
that have advanced in innovative automotive manufacturing strategies. The paper herein comments on the
article “Why Businesses Are Going Green.” published on August 7, 2017, issue of CBS Los Angeles.
Green building has several benefits to the global business world and the business. To start with,
green business will be the core business aspect in the future since most companies are embracing the
concept. The author states that “going green is the future-and California companies are leading the way.”
The author seems to be based on green building the city of Los Angeles and California which is
recommendable since the cities are the backbone of most technology business in the world. Setting a
green path for a company can improve the bottom line. This is evident from the cost benefits and creation
of a better future realized from green business. For instance, in LA, businesses utilize solar energy
through the installation of solar panels which they utilize within the business and sell to other companies
to generate more revenues. I abide by the notion that solar energy is affordable and promotes a clean
environment which is good for the bottom line of any business. Besides going green has other benefits
such as uniting the employees and executives in a common cause. A company that is augmented in going
green ensures the employees adopt the green business as a way of life. Lastly, I also agree that going
green is a ‘public relation gold.' In fact, most companies emphasize on their sense of the environment and
the future by converging on brands that promote green business. Also, employees and customers are more
attracted in creating business relationships with green business companies. In conclusion, it is imperative
to note that the millennial market is conscious about the environment and thus existing and start-up
companies should invest in green business strategies and ensure the full implementation of these
strategies in every aspect of the company.
To sum it up, the article highlights the essence of environmental sustainability with close
reference to going green by the Cadillac motor company in Los Angeles. I agree that the author concisely
highlights rationale benefits resulting from going green. The article convinces the reader that indeed
companies should embrace green building since it is cost-effectively and is good for the bottom line of
every aspect of the organization including the customers and the employees.
