sustainable innovation and it will be explained in depth by using specific examples of the firm
bio bean (AlFalahi and Nobanee, 2019). It will show how company can invent and serve novel
products and services which directly contributes towards achieving sustainability. Lastly, the
report will cover reflective statement regarding with sustainable practices based on current
lifestyle.
PART A
Discussing the significance of sustainable innovation utilizing specific examples
Sustainable innovation includes forming up the intentional modifications into company product
and services, process to produce long term benefits related to environmental concerns which
would serve economic profits to the organization. It can be also concluded as term to meet with
need of current generations without making any compromise to the basic requirements of

making simple choices it will be easier to make life stable and some easy modification to live
sustainably every day.
Bio Bean is the perfect example of utilizing the sustainable innovation in their business context.
It is the British firm and intricate in formulating eco- friendly fuel through coffee wastage in
order to power London buses (Franco and Tracey, 2019). It was introduced by Arthur Kay as
student whereby company has significant portion and it is known as world’s leading recycler for
spent coffee grounds. They upcycle disbursed coffee grounds within eco- friendly goods likely to
be known as coffee pellets and logs. In such solid fuel world, main highlighted entrant which has
been considered are coffee logs which was announced by Bio Beans and they are made up of
spent ground beans. Each one of them contains grounds from approximately 25 cups of coffee.
The manufacturers have specified they burn around 20% hotter and longest as compared to kiln
dried wood. These are alternatives towards carbon heavy fuels like coal briquettes as well as
imported wood logs. Bio bean making significant use of material with the help of previously
considered waste in terms to create valuable contribution towards circular economy (What is
Sustainable Innovation?, 2021). In UK, people consumes around 98 million coffee cup each and
every day while forming tonnes of spent coffee grounds every year. Most of them are discarded
resources ended up into landfill discharging harmful greenhouse gases consist of methane. It can
be clearly stated that Bio bean has clear initiative towards sustainable innovation. Organization is
working extremely well being largest recycle for coffee grounds having collaboration with broad
companies in the areas of UK. They work to transform such spent coffee grounds to shape them
into value at industrial scale level and serving new life for material previously considered waste.
These coffee grounds are immensely calorific through nature and company biomass solid fuel
deed such value, given that sustainable alternative to virgin biomass and carbon heavy coal.
While sipping out daily expresso keeps all together as well as caffeinated which direct to hidden
waste stream. At bio bean these relevant measures are specifically concerned as reforming them
into treasured material with minimizing the carbon emissions.
Moreover, they have also considered technology, Inficaf is versatile process for sustainable
raw material towards innovative product development. As economy is growing rapidly whereby
it demands sustainable alternatives in which inficaf relocates virgin and synthetic materials for
new industrial and commercial applications. Similarly, others have made effective use of spent
coffee grounds into assortment of innovative but minor scale products. The difficulty is sourcing

enough of raw material to enlarge their efforts. Also, challenge with recycling spent coffee
grounds at balance for removing both aspects such as moisture and contaminants. Company has
spent several years for scrupulously developing supply chain and technology to reform huge
volume of spent coffee with the purpose of reuse. From bio- plastics to have automotive parts as
well as cosmetics to textiles, inficaf bids breadth of opportunity. while moving further to
innovative concern company has gained maximum amount of waste coffee ground converted
towards biomass pellets and conducting research for biochemical and biodiesel production.
Teams are also in the process to formulate numerous of bio mass products made by recycled
WCG. The latest product of company effectively launched to mass market as called LogsTM. It
is the product which is specifically designed to serve sustainable alternative towards the

Reflective statement
Sustainability is the core concern in day to day lifestyle which means it is necessary to
think about impact of choices in core aspects such as products, foods and use of energy. While
putting focus on small stages can be access at work, home or community. In my current lifestyle
I would focus on sustainable practices by improving my day to day activities. I will consider
change in driving habits to reduce the amount of carbon footprint with the help of walk, public
transportation facilities (Sasson, 2019). I will build the habit of recycling as minimizing the use
unnecessary items which would taking precautions to ensure my overall process. Recycling is the
significant process to save the environment and initiate eco- friendly concern as it seems easier
to determine what do not belong to recycle bin. There are most common mistaken elements that
can’t be recycled like plastic bags, shredded paper, boxes. Placing up the wrong item into the
recycling can harm and slow down the overall process. Taking necessitate steps towards
minimum energy consumption is the another sustainable ideal which I will be following in my
daily schedule. In this manner I will be taking steps such as utilizing energy efficient bulbs or
leverage power strip in order to avoid energy leeches. I will be looking further to improve my
daily habits and forming up some simple decisions.
Specifically, I will try to minimize the use of plastic bags and make considerations to utilize
refillable water bottles as well as coffee cups. Also, in the same manner, the consumptions of
products including toxic substances likely to be known as solvents, insecticides, aggressive

cleaning products will be totally avoided to improve the sustainable practices. As moving
forwards to reduce stage I will prevent printing documents which can be easily available and
directly read over screen. This action will enable to minimize the usage of paper and further
causing it to waste. Apart from this I might consider use of recycle paper in necessitate situations
rather than making unwanted waste of resources. On the other hand, the most significant terms I
would be focusing towards is associated with use of electricity in terms of charging up the
mobiles phones or other electronic devices. Overall, in current lifestyle I would be considering
these basic fundamental aspects in order to enhance my bunch of activities aligns with
sustainable aspects. This will be implemented by applying safety norms at home and workplace
as well. I will consider each and everything in detail and ensure about safety measures are being
followed efficiently. These efforts can immensely contribute to advancement inn sustainable
development goals (Pathak, Singh and Badhotiya, 2020). It is necessiate to get in touch with
basic problematic concerns which impact sustainability in order to make some necessitate steps
