INTRODUCTION
Sustainability is one of the essential components for the business which is concerned with the
long-term existence of the company and also focuses on the renowned of the large organisation.
Development of the sustainable organisation problems needs to go through different types of
channels and problems (Cruz-Jesus, Pinheiro and Oliveira, 2019). It is not easy for an
organisation to be a sustainable organisation but the adoption of sustainable practices allows
them to create a long tern demand of their products and also it helps them to be innovative their
offering. This project report includes the Critical evaluation of the roles and responsibilities of
Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher as the strategic managers along with the discussion of the
key concepts for the strategic business management application for the sustainability problems. It
also includes discussion of economical as well as ethical dilemmas which is to be faced by the
strategic leader in long- and short-term balancing.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Critical evaluation of the roles and responsibilities of Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher as
the strategic managers along with the discussion of the key concepts for the strategic
business management application for the sustainability problems.
Christoph Gebald as well as Jan Wurzbacher explains that the entrepreneurial venture of their
business in which their products are produced was resulting in carbon dioxide which creates a
negative impact on the environment. There is an increase in carbon dioxide to be related to
business activities in the environment on a continuous basis. It results in an increase in the global
warming and also it creates concern for the environment all over the world. Vision of these
entrepreneur is to reduce the carbon emission with 1% in the environment throughout the whole
world (Jack, Plahe and Wright, 2022). It is one of the most sensitive concerns in the whole world
and in order to carry out business in such a situation require the permission of the government as
well as environmental bodies in order to ensure them that their working will create an
opportunity for business and also it is not contributing to the decreasing of the pollution level of
the environment. There are various roles as well as responsibilities to be fulfilled by Christoph
Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher in context to be sustainability leader are mentioned below:

Concerning for the employee health and people living nearby: There are different plant
existed in nearby location where people living. These plants release harmful pollutants and
carbon emission which is creating negative impact over the health of people. These people who
impacted with the pollution can be he employees of the company or the people who are living
near there. It is responsibilities of the managers of the company to look for these things in order
to look for these things and also for overcoming of it.
Predicting future organisation: Sustainable organisation are those which are operating for the
long term and also ensure completion of things on time. It is also important for the sustainable
managers to analyse the present and future demand in the market. It is also important for them to
offer customers with greater satisfaction (Khan and et. al., 2020).
There are different types of tools and concepts in the field of the strategic business management
which are related to sustainability. These tools and concepts related to analysation of
sustainability are mentioned below:
OKR: Objectives and key results can be described as the framework which is used for purpose
of goal setting and also for tracking of outcomes that analyse the current and potential business
performance. It is important in order to finding out the different measures for increasing the
performance. Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher also using these tools in their
entrepreneurial venture which is based on sustainability. It enables them for setting objectives
and also for collecting the carbon dioxide from the environment in order to build a profitable

these responsibilities, they require different dilemmas which assist them to solve problems
occurred at the workplace (Sim, 2019). Economic dilemmas are the ones that are related to the
choice of economic factors like money as well as ethical ones which are important for social well
being and also it is important for purpose of understanding of the responsibilities of self-being of
leaders for which the employees are working. Some of the dilemmas of leaders in context to the
economic and ethical terms are mentioned below:
Managing cash flow: It is one of the dilemmas of the leader in which they need to maintain the
cash as well as cash equivalents. It is difficult for leaders who are not operating at a large scale.
In this, there are different options to be included like how much cash is to be kept by the
company in hand for dealing with the daily expenses, how much money is to be deposited in the
bank accounts and how much money is kept for further investment.
Honesty: It is another dilemma in which it is expected from the company by its employees as
well as the customers to remain honest. According to this, it is important to use the right quality

Justice: It is also a dilemma which is focusing on the resolving of the issues to be faced by the
employees working in the organization. Different types of conflicts to have occurred at the
workplace for different reasons which can happen at any time. It is the responsibility of the
leaders to resolve the conflicts in an effective manner which results in a positive impact and also
focuses on the reduction of the negative impact. For this, leaders need to adopt justice in which
there should be no biasness among the candidates as it can create a negative impact on their
mindset It creates a direct impact on the satisfaction of the employees as well as the turnover
ratios which create a negative image of the organisation (Weaver and et. al., 2019).
High employment: It is also a dilemma which is focusing on leading of people who are
interested to work with the organisation. The increasing level of employment in a country
provides them with fewer choices for the candidates to select. It results in higher competition in
the employment market due to which demand for the salary also increases. It is a situation that
creates positive results for the country as well as its people but it results in a negative situation
for the business as it increases their costs.
CONCLUSION
From above mentioned project report, it can be concluded that there are different types of
sensitive concerns to be occurred in the business related to the environment as business activities
create negative and positive impacts on the environment. Due to this, it is important for the
business to take permission from government bodies. Organisation that are adopting sustainable
practices in their business ensure long-term survival in the environment. Different types of
problems to be occurred in the environment which is to be faced by the strategic leaders in their
journey for developing a sustainable organisation.
