Semester 1: Sustainable Tourism Development Report

This report examines the concept of sustainable tourism, emphasizing its role in responsible travel and its impact on the environment, economy, and society. The report highlights the importance of sustainable practices in the tourism sector and explores the factors that can hinder sustainable tourism development. These factors include crime and violence, safety concerns, political instability, lack of amenities, and global climatic conditions. The report also provides a concise overview of the factors that can affect the tourism industry. It emphasizes the need for strategies that minimize negative impacts while promoting the long-term viability of tourism destinations. The report concludes by highlighting the importance of considering the factors that affect the tourism industry to ensure its sustainability.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
Sustainable development
It is an organizing principle which helps in fulfilment the requirement
of resources in such a manner that it do not run out of scarce for future
generation. It helps in making optimum utilization of the available
resources without compromising the needs of tomorrow. It shows that
individuals cannot use the resources that way it is using currently
otherwise it would be difficult to meet the needs future. The important
action that can be taken by human being is stabilizing and reduction in
the carbon emission so that the environment can be protected.
Sustainability in tourism development
Sustainable tourism is when the strategies by the company
is prepared in such a manner that there is a low impact on
environmental and local culture of the country. Positive
sustainable tourism ensures that the strategies leaves a positive
impact on the local culture of the society. It must able be in such
a manner that it does not harm the other tourism companies and
the tourists as well. Tourism involves transportation,
accommodation, nourishment and shopping.
Travel is required in tourism where harmful emission
from the vehicles can affect the climate and enhance the level of
carbon dioxide in the air. Continuous growing of tourism also
has diverse impact on habitat and indigenous culture of tourist
destinations, leaving impact on economic and social cultures.
Factors that may prevent/hinder sustainable tourism development
There are various factors that are affecting the sustainable tourism.
Some of them are mentioned below:
 Crime and violence: It acts as a significant barrier which prevent
tourists to reach to the destinations. It affects social well-being of
the economic development.
 Safety: The travelers tend to prefer the places for tourism purposes
which are safe for them. Hence, counties with tensions and wars are
visited frequently by them.
 Political unrest: The unstable countries are less secure to visit and
hence are avoided by the visitors.
 Lack of amenities: Traveler tends to expect basic amenities in
order to make their stay comfortable. Lack of amenities resist them
from going to those places.
 Global climatic conditions: Change in climate conditions of the
country or a destination such as hurricane, Tsunami, tropical storm
or heavy snowfall restricts the travelers from visiting that place due
to safety purposes.
