Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF AN ACCOUNTANT
I am writing in reference to the position of an accountant vacancy posted on the company website on June 1, 2019.
I am a final year student at Moi University pursuing Master Degree in General Economics at Hospice. My research
project deals with analyzing the labour market institution and earnings inequality in Kenya. The results from this research
provide key insights on the role of labour market regulation in economic policy and how it influences the political
economy debate in the region, and how change in political economy, in turn, affects different groups.
In 2010, I served as an Accounts’ Clerk at the South Nyanza Sugar Company, albeit under internship programme. My
duties involved preparation and reconciliation of payrolls, planning and budgeting. Between 2012 and 2013, I served the
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as a Deputy Presiding Officer. My duties involved assisting the
Presiding Officer plan and coordinate polling activities and generally manage Manyatta Polling Station, in Migori County.
Between 2012 and 2018, I worked as a Teacher, employed by the Board of Management of Manyatta Secondary School
and my duties included teaching and examining students in Business Studies. Besides teaching, I was appointed the
Games Master in 2016. Due to my exemplary performance, I was awarded the “Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
Award for the Second-Best Teacher in Business Studies in Migori County in 2013”. I am also an excellent footballer and
a football coach as annexed in the resume I have attached here in.
I have a strong work ethics and I am an excellent employee. The knowledge and experience I have gained in the course of
duty make me uniquely suitable and an ideal candidate for the position of an accountant. I am a team player and will
therefore, offer the services needed in this reputable organization. Further, I have excellent leadership skills with a strong
commitment to excellence and always execute tasks with much precision and integrity.
I look forward to your invitation to discuss how I can inculcate my positive energy to the assigned unit(s)/department and
help it remain in its path to growth and success.
Yours sincerely,
David Ochieng Ephraim.
