Introduction
SWOT analysis is a strategic tool used by organization in order to understand their
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It is in fact necessary for organizations to
know their strengths and weaknesses such that the same can be used by them for taking
advantage of different opportunities. The organisations selected for the purpose of this study
are Saudi Aramco, King Khalid foundations and Al Hokair group (Saudiaramco.com 2020).
The main aim of the paper is to discuss about the strength and weaknesses of the selected
companies as a result of them operating in that particular sector and also one strengths and
weaknesses inherent in them. Therefore the paper will discuss about a brief introduction of
the selected companies and their strengths and weaknesses sue to the industry in which they
are operating and also their inherent strengths and weaknesses.
Discussion
Brief introduction into the companies
King Khalid foundation is one of the charitable organizations based in Saudi Arabia
ad is a family business of the late King Khalid. Therefore this organization that is run by the
family is managed by the board of trustees. All the policies and practices of the foundation
are drawn up by the board. Saudi Aramco is a natural gas and national petroleum providing
company with its headquarters in the Saudi Arabia. The company is one of the largest due to
its revenue generations. Some of the major products of Saudi Aramco comprises of natural
gas, petrochemicals and petroleum (Almaiman, McLaughlin and Al-Ashaab 2017). And the
Al Hokair groups are a tourism company based in Saudi Arabia. It belongs to the hospitality
and entertainment industry. The group was started under the leadership of Sheikh

Abdulmohsin Alhokair. And presently the group is having about 34 hotels and 79
entertainment centres that is operating across United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
One strength and one weaknesses that is a direct result of them operating in their
particular sector
One of the major advantages that is available to Saudi Aramco is that it belongs to the
industry of petroleum and gas that is having higher prospects in Saudi Arabia. This major
advantage is clear from the fact that Saudi Arabia has been ranked as second in having oil
reserves throughout the world and it is also one of the largest exporters of petroleum. The
King Khalid foundation has an advantage in its sector because the government of Saudi Arab
has recently announced its plans for 2030 which includes planning the ecosystem in a way
that the focus remain on majorly three main sectors that is the government sector, the non-
profit sector and the private sector. Therefore government is trying to encourage and thereby
raise the contribution of these sectors to the GDP. Moreover the sector of tourism and
hostility has also got high prospects for growth in Saudi Arabia. This is so because the
tourism industry is going to be the priority for the economic development plan of the country
in the year 2030 (Kkfeng.org 2020). One weakness of the oil and gas industry is that the
government is planning to reduce the dependence of the country on its oil reserves. One of
the weaknesses of the non-profitable sector is that it takes too much time to be implemented
in the country and therefore it is a lengthy process. On the other hand one major disadvantage
of the tourism sector is that it becomes difficult to obtain a visa.
One strengths and one weakness that particularly related to the organizations
One of the major strengths of King Khalid foundation is that it provides employment
to many local people. One of the major weaknesses of King Khalid foundation is that of
exploitation of the workers. One of the major strengths of Saudi Aramco is that their cost of

production of barrel is the lowest universally and one of the major weaknesses is that they
suffer from corporate governance issues.
One of the major advantage of the Al Hokair groups is that their growth strategy is making
them profitable and one of their major weaknesses is that they operate on certain cultural
values which makes it difficult for people from other countries and restricts their activities
(Alhokair.com 2020).
Conclusion
Therefore from the above discussion, it can be concluded that it is necessary to
identify the strengths and weaknesses of a company in relation to the industry to which they
belong or in relation to their own organization. This is so because by knowing the strengths
of the company it can take advantage of various opportunities existing in the external and
internal environment. Moreover by knowing the weaknesses, the organization can try to
overcome the same.
