STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
Stakeholders are defined as the group of individuals or individual who can affect or is
affected by a said organisation and the activities undertaken by the organisation (Andriof et
al. 2017). Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) is a plan that provides assistance to the
managers in order to effectively engage in the curriculum of the project. This engagement of
the stakeholders within the plan will help to implement the plan in a successful way (Lavallee
et al. 2012).

The main stakeholders behind the development of Sydney Airport Parallel Runway
Project include employees of the airport, shareholders of the projects, customers who will be
benefited, suppliers of the raw materials for the project, the main financiers and the local
community members (Skouloudis, Evangelinos and Moraitis 2012).

Development of the stakeholder engagement process that will provide stakeholders
with an opportunity to cast significant influence over the project planning and
subsequent design

Other things that must be taken into consideration during the development of the SEP
include several principles of the effective stakeholder engagement (ESE). The common
principles of ESE are commitment, integrity, respect, transparency, inclusiveness and trust
(Lavallee et al. 2012). Commitment is represented when the requirement to understand,
identify and engage the community is highlighted and acted upon with priority. Integrity
occurs when engagement is conducted to foster mutual respect. Respect on the other hand is
generated when cultural beliefs, values and rights are stakeholders are recognised.
Inclusiveness is obtained when encouragement is given for broad participation and is
supported by appropriate participation. Trust is gained though open and meaningful
conversation that upholds the community beliefs (Lavallee et al. 2012).
