Maintenance Practices in the Venue
Maintenance is one of the most important elements that needs to be done while undertaking
the different facilities of the venue. The establishment of a proper maintenance program is
utmost necessary for the proper running and smooth functioning of the different events that are
held in the stadium (Creazza, colicchia & dallari, 2015). The stadium authority which is in
charge of maintaining the following venue has a huge responsibility with them. The authority
follows a set of principles to carry on the following process smoothly. The steps are as follows;

VENUE AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT
1. Prioritizing the Maintenance process- There are many case when the authorities of the
different types of stadiums and other large venues maintains the facilities with a
corrective, run to failure approach one that simply allows the stadiums to run their course
(Abson, 2018). The management of the stadiums fails to understand the important of
maintenance and rather thinks such an idea to be an inevitable afterthought. Such kind of
thinking in the organizational structure of the stadium leads to the start of different types
of small issues which leads the creation of a much larger issue in the future. The
avoidance of the smaller issue forces the organization to spend money and incur huge
cost to maintain the facilities properly.
2. Prevention and Prediction- The management of Sydney Football Stadium employs a
proper approach to maintenance. The approach starts with prevention. The basic way to
identify the problems and maintain and manage the facility is by using the historical data
to understand the typical lifespan of a number of certain assets and systems throughout
the stadium and also upgrade the different fixing parts before their malfunctioning
(Abson, 2018). The Stadium authority has seen that following and implementing the
following system will be helping the organization to save money and reduce wastage and
in turn make use of the extra resources to facilitate the development of the venue. There
are even more modern approaches that involve the tracking of the different assets
digitally in real time. The predictive maintenance uses supplement to preventive strategy
takes the help of different sensors to feed data into a computerized maintenance
management system (Edensor, 2015).
3. Benefits for Facility Management- A properly maintained facility is very much vital for
the success of the author. The fans of the both rugby and the soccer teams attend the

different types of sporting events for the experience. The part of the experience is shared
for their interaction with the facility management (Hottle et al. 2015). The fans or the
users of the facilities of the venue will be complaining to the facility manager or the
executives of the facility department regarding any issues that are faced by them in the
stadium. The Management of the Sydney Football Stadium must make sure to maintain
the facility in a proper way so that they can maintain the facility in a much better way and
also enhance a better reputation among the different types of the fans who regularly visits
the stadiums.
Projected Changes and their impact in the venue
A number of different changes have been implemented by the stadium authority of the
mentioned arena of Sydney to make way for new developments and maintain the facility in a
proper and efficient way. This includes the likes of;
1. Implantation of new grass- The Stadium authorities has plans to implant new grass in a
time of 6 months to make way for the old Australian grass and to instill the new Bermuda
grass which is the best worldwide and is of a much better quality than that of the other
types of grasses. The following grass will be much sustainable and is also easy to
maintain. However the most important advantage of this particular grass is its ability to
absorb water easily and not allow water to become stagnant.
2. Implementation of a new seating technique- The seating technique will see a major
overhaul and an international furniture company will be appointed to install quality
bucket seats to provide the fans and the spectators with the ultimate experience during the
undergoing of the different types of games or concerts.

3. Implementation of a much better inner facilities- The implementation of the different
kinds of the inner facilities like inner food stores, VIP sitting facilities, press box and
media centers are important for the development of the stadium as a whole (Sims et al.
2017). The developmental initiatives that are taken by the stadium authority accordingly
help to attract more and more people to the stadium.
4. Installation of the online ticketing counters- Sydney Football Stadium still does not
have the automatic ticketing facility which includes the likes of automatic ticket vending
machines and the automatic ticket punchers. This will help the stadium authorities to
disperse the crowd and control the crowd easily and will also help in the proper
functioning of the stadium.
Discussion and Analysis
The following report has shown the ways by which a venue in the stature of Sydney
Football Stadium is managed and what are the possible ways by which the management of the
venue can make the different amendments to improve their performance and provide much more
facility to the fans and the spectators who visit the stadium. Maintaining the best infrastructure
for these kinds of entertainment venues have gradually became a competition in the market and
the better the facilities, the better is the profit and the be3tter is the power of the venue to attract
fans and spectators (Sims et al. 2017). The Sydney football stadium has recently been facing
different threats from new and better equipped stadiums for which the authorities have leased
them to a private entity to survive in the competitive market. Thus it is necessary for the venue to
be innovative and ready to accept change to make the most of the changing situations.
