The purpose of the following essay is to discuss on the various perspectives if the
international conflicts. The chosen conflict on the international conflict is the Syrian Civil War.
Two articles will be analyzed on different perspectives of this same event. The amount of harms
done to the society and environment will be acknowledged based on the discussions on the
situation.
The first part of this article will look to discuss on the environmental impacts of the
international conflict. The authors of the article are Sima L. Sharara and Souha S. Kanj. This
article had been published in the year 2015 (Sharara & Kanj, 2014). Therefore, the authors have
brought about the fact through their secondary data analysis and quantitative research work that
some harmful diseases had taken place in the Middle East region along with Syria. Some
examples of these contagious epidemics are poliomyelitis, cutaneous leishmaniasis and measles.
The authors have argued on the deterioration of the health conditions in Syria. Many people in
the region had died and many were left shelter less. The displacement of the people from Syria
was a major setback for the society. The number goes up around 6 million if the refugees are
concerned (Sharara & Kanj, 2014). The workers in the healthcare sector were in great danger
since they had to treat those patients with ailment. According to the instructions of the United
Nations, healthcare experts from other countries had to intervene to treat the affected people.
They had to put their lives on risk in order to treat these Syrian people. Thus, it is very clear than
an international conflict like Syrian Civil War was very challenging for health safety.
The author of the second article was and it was published in 2015 (Berti, 2015). Here the
author has brought out all the crucial facts regarding the harms that were done to the society and
people. The humanitarian loss to the society was immense. In this scenario, international
organizations came up to help the common people. The author has provided the fact that the

more than 8000 children had been killed in the process. People of countries like Lebanon,
Turkey and Jordan had also lost their lives. Both the articles have the similarity in bringing out
the negative experiences that common people had due to this incident (Berti, 2015). It was also
very evident that loss of lives had put the aspect of international peace within Middle East region
in jeopardy (Berti, 2015). The author also brought out the issue that most refugees did not want
to register their names in the official records of United Nations as they were quite afraid about
their future. The basic difference between these two articles lie in the fact that first article has
enlightened on the health safety issues and the second one stressed on the humanitarian losses.
In the concluding section of the essay, it must be said that international conflicts like
Syria have always cost lives and properties. Both the articles discussed in the paper have brought
out by thorough research that millions of people lost their lives and outbreak of epidemics also
resulted in the Middle East.
