An adaptive system methodology is a sort of independent entities or real objects that together
form a whole that responds to any change that is applied to its interacting parts. Today in the
community’s ecosystems and families form natural adaptive systems while in the other hand
robots with control systems form the artificial adaptive systems. But in Comfort Quilts limited
case is system that control all the daily business activities from the ordering of products such as
donnas , importing them transporting to the stores ,payment procedures ,storing the
products, taking the records , payment of the employs taking the account records and so many
others like customer relationships with the employs. The processes end up repeating day after
day like loop. For this processes to be accomplish successfully daily there must be severally
adaptive system methodologies that are imposed such has Xp methodology. This is a report in
regard to Comfort Quilts management in the development of an information system using Xp
adaptive methodology.
Executive Summary
The aim of this report is to evaluate and find the best adaptive system methodologies that will
suit and be appreciated by the Stakeholders of Comfort Quilts Limited. This involves all the
steps that the company is supposed to use for them to accomplish the daily activities of the

Introduction
Before business organization comes up with an adaptive system development methodology to
implement it must do a lot of sourcing and researching. The methodology that will be selected
will best suit the organization for its safety and smooth running. In this case Comfort Quilts
organization requires methodology that will enable them analyze, design implement and
maintain the information system in especially in purchasing. Also accounting and customer
relationships are put into considerations. They should be well sourced and specified so that
they are within the requirements of the stakeholders. The adaptive methodology will act as a
score card during the running of the business. In this XP methodology is selected because it
involves both iterative and incremental processes that focuses and improve the development
process in communication, simplicity and courage.
Extreme programming(Xp)
XP is a simple and light agile methodology that can easily be implemented by Comfort Quilts
Limited. This because it will improve the information in four ways that is communication,
simplicity, feedback and courage according to’ Satzinger et .al (2007). The methodology also
assumes that change in any software development is normal and has higher priority of
addressing change to any changing technology. Xp prescribes the day-to –day activities of the
managers and employees and the clients and encourages them with particular values that will
enable the business to move forward. It also sets the lowest price of dealing the issues at an
early stage and keep on evolving day after day. The main aims and the targets/goals of the
method will provide as a solution to the requirement of the Comfort Quilts limited Business
include.
 A part to improvement in the way of keeping the records.
 A mechanism for social change in the business.
 Improve the application process of the suppliers by filling the application forms.
 Production of the reports on time has required by the manager especially at the end
of the month.
Also this method implements a method called incremental change which means one change

Xp methodology has following phases according to Maciaszek et.al(2007).
Exploration phase
Here the requirement of the system is determined with also the functionality and features of
the system. The requirements include.
1. Organization buying from the suppliers through filling of the application forms
and reviewing of the forms by the supplier but not all.
2. Purchasing manager running reports in individual purchases and shipments at the
end of the month.
3. Alison Williams one of the Stakeholder running of the reports in purchases,
shipments at the end of the month.
Planning phase.
This is the first process of the Xp methodology. This process depends in the requirements of the
organization. In this case the requirement of the organization are has listed in exploration
phase above.
The requirements are decomposed into small issues that can be handled and solved.
 The time for solving the problems is determined.
 Reviewing of the existing projects.
 The requirements are prioritized for them to be dealt with accordingly.
 A plan is then released for the issues to be handled in accordingly manner.
Iteration to release phase
This the phase that contains the core activities of developing the system. The processes here
include the following. It involves analysis, design and testing the system.
When performing the requirement analysis, the following is undertaken as per Guiney
et.al(2012)
I. Conducting the preliminary investigation.
II. Performing detailed analysis about the system.

III. Studying the current system.
IV. The user requirements are determined.
V. A solution is recommended for the project.
After analysis the design stage comes in:
Here every tool that is required is collected especially hardware.
The software is designed the database of the software and also the network. Coding and testing
the specific parts of the system is done once and again.
After the system has been design is developed through coding and tested one more again.
The testing phase involves ways of finding if the system is carrying out the requirements that
are required by the Comfort Quilts Limited. In this case testing will involve the following
activities according to Dini et.al(210).

And generally the functionality of the system is tested.
Production phase.
Here the system will be taken to the organization for manual testing also called small release

This is the final release of the system to the client. The system will be installed and used by
Comfort Quilts Limited has per their requirements.
Maintenance phase
Here the updates of the system are implemented and disability or malfunctioning of the system
dealt with.

The best adaptive system methodology that Comfort Quilts Limited can adapt is the Extreme
programming methodology. Since it breaks the information system into various stages and each
stage the problems are solved by the system. Through the method the stakeholder can get the
reports not only at the end of the month but also at the end of every 24 hours. The method
meets all the requirement that are required by the organization.
