AI Summary
This report provides a detailed system analysis and design of 'My Health Record,' an information system launched by the Australian government. The report examines the system's vision document, focusing on three key aspects: the problems it addresses, its capabilities, and the benefits it offers. The problems include addressing the lack of patient information, reducing hospital admissions, and controlling costs. The capabilities discussed involve easy data entry, automatic data removal, and integration of technology with healthcare. The benefits highlighted are the system's affordability, easier data management, flexibility, and simplified implementation. The report concludes by summarizing the importance of information systems in organizing and communicating data, emphasizing 'My Health Record' as a significant advancement in healthcare, and the benefits it provides to both patients and healthcare providers.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
Introduction
The organized system to collect, store, organize and communicate information is
known as an information system. It is a set of components, which eventually interact with
each other for producing information. The main focus of this system is on the internal data
and not on external data (Demir & Krajewski, 2013). Any organization or company utilizes
this particular system for purpose of collection, processing, creation, distribution and
filtration of data. “My Health Record” is one of such information systems that would be
launched by the government of Australia for the purpose of storing all types of health details
of the patients.
This report outlines a detailed research on vision document for My Health Record”.
Three distinct points are present in the vision document, namely, problem, capabilities and
benefits. All the three points will also be explained in this report for the project of My Health
Record.
Vision Document
Problem
The Commonwealth Government of Australia is going to launch an important and
significant information system for all its citizens, namely, My Health Record (Arvidsson,
Holmström & Lyytinen, 2014). This particular information system is an extremely secured
online summary of the information solely related to health and physical body. The most
interesting characteristic of this information system is that all the information is to be taken
from the records that are already previously existing. One of the most important requirements
of the project My Health Record would be in the industry of health and health care (Wu et al.,
2013). This would help them to continue the particular procedure of reforming and also

properly driving the efficiencies and effectiveness in the information system. Moreover, this
information system would also increase the overall quality of the health of the citizens for
helping them to reduce the several problems, the hospitals are facing these days. One of the
examples of these problems is the lacking of patient information (Laudon & Laudon, 2015).
The second problem includes reduction in the rate of any hospital admissions with proper
medication. Furthermore, the costs of the hospitals have become major problem in today’s
world. With the help of My Health Record, this problem would be solved.
Capabilities
My Health Record is the project that is to be launched by the Commonwealth
Government of Australia (Bajdor & Grabara, 2014). This particular project is supposed to
have various significant capabilities. These capabilities would be making the project
extremely popular and well accepted by all citizens of Australia. The very first capability of
My Health Record would be that the patients will never repeat their health related problems
to their doctors or health experts. Rather, the moment they mention about their problems, it
would automatically be recorded within the system (Woods et al., 2013). The next capability
of this system is that it will not be complicated at all and everybody could easily utilize the
system. The automatic data entry is the next important capability of this system. The other
capability of this information system includes the auto removal of data whenever the
requirement of that information is completed. This is utterly reducing the effort of human
beings or doctors and nurses. They do not have to do any type of data operation by
themselves. My Health Record would be doing that for them. The other important capability
of this system is that it would be an excellent amalgamation of information and
communication technology as well as medical field (Nazi, 2013). Another significant
capability would be for the patients. They could easily track down their health details for

being independent from the hospitals. It is solely expected that these capabilities would be
acquiring the entire system for the betterment of medical field.
Benefits
My Health Record is a particular project for the citizens of the Australian
government. They have decided to launch this project so that they could easily track down the
details related to health and the health experts could easily fetch the information (Demir &
Krajewski, 2013). The significant benefits or advantages of the system are as follows:
i) Inexpensive: It is expected that this type of information system is extremely costly
and it is not possible for all individuals to afford them. However, My Health Record is very
cheap and each and every person could easily use the system.
ii) Managing Data: The management of information or data is absolutely easier and
thus this type of information system is well accepted by all (Bajdor & Grabara, 2014).
iii) Flexibility: My Health Record would be utterly flexible and scalable in nature and
thus it is expected to gain popularity due to this.
iv) Implementation Easier: The complete implementation of this system is very easy
and simple and thus could be easily implemented anywhere.
v) Lack of Complexity: My Health Record is extremely simpler and does not incur
any type of complexity within it (Laudon & Laudon, 2016).
vi) Automatic Data Modification: The modification of information or data is done
automatically.

Conclusion
Therefore, from the above discussion it could be concluded that, the structured system
to store, organize, collect, as well as communicate any type of data or information is called as
information system. This system is the collection of elements that eventually interrelate with
one other to produce any type of information. The emphasis of this information system is
provided on all the types of internal data, however external data is not at all focused here.
Any particular company or organization solely uses the information system for the simple
purpose to process, collect, distribute, filter or create data. A particular information system is
most of the time used to run a fully computer based database or any computer system. The
most significant feature of the information system is its decision making. “My Health
Record” can be termed as one of the information systems, which is going to launch by
Australian government to store the health record of patients. This report has properly outlined
the vision document of the system, My Health Record”. The three points, problem, benefits
and capabilities are properly explained here for this project of the My Health Record.
Moreover, the significant details regarding the information system are also given here.
