Executive Summary
The report reflects the system analysis and design of Lilydale Movies information system. The
system is capable of carrying out the key processes of the organization. The system analysis and
design is a great source of mitigating the internal issues, enhancing the efficiency and expanding
opportunities. Within this report, the system analysis has been done in the context of Lilydale
Movies. The organization is interested in carrying out system analysis and design for grab most
of the business opportunities and better control over the market. The report is combination of
business description and system data description. The introduction part is for familiarizing the
whole report. The business and data description are provided under two different sections.
Through the conclusion, the report is reviewed. Lilydale Movies needs to have a system that can
generate different reports based on the data that is put inside the database. Another issue that the
organization is having is overdue. The system must be able to analyze the data and limit the
overdue issues. Two logical data dictionary and two physical data dictionaries has been used.
The key process that has been described within the report are customer registration, loan and
DVD purchase. Moreover, the lower level process that has been selected within the report is
overdue loan.

1. Introduction:
The system analysis and design is a great source of mitigating the internal issues,
enhancing the efficiency and expanding opportunities. The data processing requirements are very
much depended on the business scale and type of operations done within the business (Dennis,
Wixom & Tegarden 2015, p 127). The system analysis and design provide the organization to
concentrate on the organizational wide data processing and business operations. If the system
analysis is done properly then the organization can have a better hold in the market and perform
better than the competitors. The system analysis and design allows the organization to determine
the ways a system can be used. In allows the organization to cover various operations of several
departments (often the whole organization).
Within this report, the system analysis has been done in the context of Lilydale Movies.
The organization is interested in carrying out system analysis and design for grab most of the
business opportunities and better control over the market.
The purpose of the work in this report is to develop an understanding of the business
processes, requirements and other factors. These will improve the understanding the reason of
carrying out this report. After the business factors are recognized then the system functions and
designs are to be done to provide an overview of the improved system.

2. Organization Background:
Lilydale Movies is a developing film deals and rental tie wishing to overhaul their data

3.2 Process Description:
3.2.1 Key Processes:
Customer Registration: The customer registration is a vital process that is to be done. In
order to provide better quality of services, Lilydale Movies must be able to store all the basic
data of the customer. The data will be collected by the system through internet and stored in the
database for further use. The customer data also provide the organization to keep track of
business processes in better way such as loaning a movie to a customer.
Loan: Loan is a very important part of Lilydale Movies’ business. The movies will be
provided to the customers as loan. The data that will be stored against a loan are customer
identification number and movie copy identification number1, date and time of loan and period
of the loan. The membership of the customer has to be current, otherwise the customer cannot
loan a movie.
DVD Purchase: Before purchasing a movie or DVD, Lilydale Movies staff will enter the
name and details of the movie to be purchased. The purchase order will be recognized by a
unique identifier. The supplier will be dispatching the movie along with an invoice.
3.2.2 Lower Level Process:
Overdue Loan: In case a customer does not return the rented movie within the defined
date, an auto generated notification will generated by the system. The store staff will contact the
customer directly. The system will also send an auto generated mail to the customer using the
email address stored in the database against the customer record.
4. Conclusion:
From the above report it can be concluded that Lilydale Movies is required to have a fully
functional and automated information system. An information system is capable of maintaining
the whole process of an organization automatically without the intervention of the humans.
However, because of the high cost of making that kind system, the system analysts prefer to
leave some of the less important processes to be done by the humans. The study has completely
relevant to the case study and report requirements. All the aspects of the business has been met
within the report. There are various processes that Lilydale Movies carryout in their daily

operations. In this report only few of the processes has been visualized. The logical and physical
data dictionaries has been a great way of illustrating the insight of the database of the system.
Within the context of system analysis and design it is very important to have kludge about the
data.
