1. Need of developing the system
The North Hill College needs to implement a new online registration system for the
student who want to register themselves with the college. The administrator needs to improve the
registration process in the college so that the students can easily register themselves. The new
system that is being developed for the college will help the student to choose their respective
courses and register themselves. The can also view their course result from the IS system. All
information related with the college will be kept up to date so that the students get informed
about all instruction about their academic courses.
2. Business Case
This information system would be benefited for the student as well as the college
administer as because the manual process would be reduced by launching this IS system in the
college website. With this system the registration process can be automated and the students can
register easily in the system by selecting their course they want.
With the new IS system, the student will be able to change their courses within duration
of two week from the registration. This would enable the students to have a customized courses
even after the registration is completed. The students can also view their semester results at the
end of the semester using this IS system. In the new information system, the lecturers can view
the details of the new students registering in the system and can contact them if any information
is to be given to them regarding the course details.
The development methodology of the project used for developing the JAD (Joint
Application Development) includes the client end design as well as the user end design that is to

be included in the system. This methodology helps to create the applications more quickly and

The IS system would provide the business in many ways. The benefits are listed below.
 The system would help the admin of the college to upload all the details regarding the
college administration system and the registration system.
 The IS system will take the details of the college courses that are provided by the college.
 The students will be able register themselves online in the new IS system in the system.
 The student can also view the courses details in the IS system, that would reduce the
pressure of the registration office in the college.
 The student can also view their academic result from the IS system at the end of the
semester.
3. Project Scope
The project scope is to develop an IS system (Information system) that would be able to
make the registration system efficient in the North Hill College. This system would make the
system more efficient and would reduce the working pressure of the administrative staffs in the
college. The college would also have manually registration process in the college campus but
with the online system, the extreme pressure on the system would be reduced.
This project will deliver a project plan that would be used for developing the new is IS
system for the college and will provide total budget for the project that would be needed to build
the system. This system will include many functions that would help the students and the college

administration to complete their registration on time and would also help the students to change
their courses in two weeks duration of time after registration being completed.
This report will detail the designing process to develop IS system for the North Hill
College. The report will state the use case diagram for IS system showing all the actors
associated with the IS system. This report will also explain the sequence diagram explaining one
of the process included in the system. There is a context diagram and a data flow diagram that
would show the processes that are carried out in the system. The ERD of the IS system is also
shown in this report that would define the primary keys and the foreign keys that are associated
with the system. 3 screen interfaces of the system are shown in the report showing the interface
from the customer end and admin end.
3.1 Cost and Schedule analysis
For developing the IS system for the North Hill college, the total cost of developing the
system will be $202,920. The system would be completed with the specified budget and will
include all the phases that are stated in the project plan schedule of the project. The budget of
developing the system should not exclude as that will lead to failure of the project.
