Project Introduction:
The project is undertaken for the implementation of Enrolment System in National
University. The project will be done under the supervision of the project manager and one
representative of National University. The university wants the system to be deployed in the
environment before February so that they can properly analyze the system before it can be used
by the students. The primary user of the system will be the potential student who will use the
system to enrolment. The project will be done considering the fact that students may use the
system from their house or other remote places to apply for a course. The project will have
considerations of university management. The management can look for interests of students,
classroom allocations and many more.
Information System Capabilities:
The proposed system will be designed such a way that it can support the enrolment
process of National University from the beginning to the end. The system will also support the
management for making various decisions and monitor the processes. The whole enrolment
process function will be turned into automated process so that minimal human intervention can
be achieved.
The Enrolment System will include a course management system which will allow the
student to select the desired major and terms along with courses offered in that major. The
system will also have a database management system. The database management system will be
installed in the core of the system. The DBMS will collect data from the user entered forms and
selections done in the UI of the system. These data will be later processes for validating whether
it is accurate or not. After every data will successfully be validated, those data will be stored in

the main database. The third component of the system will be transaction processing system.
This system will be implemented using API of a third party service provider. The PayPal can be
the most secure and effective choice for transaction processing system. A decision support
system will also be integrated into the system. The DSS will collect various data from the
database and generate many information to create reports for the management of National
University. The purpose of DSS will be purely for the management. The information system will
be hosted through secured cloud environment so that students are other people can use it from
remote locations.
The proposed system will perform following actions.
i. Collecting data from the student
ii. Verifying those data to maintain business rules
iii. Process the data to generate crucial information
iv. Control the overall course selection process
v. Handling the payment for enrolment
vi. Showing selected enrolment information
Perceived Business Benefits:
The primary purpose of Enrolment System development is to provide support to National
University’s enrolment process. Other benefits Enrolment System will provide to National
University are as following.
i. Better communication with the students
ii. The students will be able to connect to the system from remote locations

iii. The management of National University will be able to fetch reports from the
system
iv. The error in the enrolment process will be reduced heavily when the human
intervention will be removed
v. The university will be experiencing a better enrolment process
vi. The organization will be able to use resources allocated to enrolment process to
other works
vii. The staff can concentrate on their core functions
viii. The operational cost for enrolment process will be heavily reduced
ix. The organization can integrate this enrolment system into main management
system for further enhancing the communication between the organizational
processes
Resources Required:
Human Resources: No matter how much the system is advanced, it will need people to
operate. The human resources can be considered as Information System experts and end users.
The end users are the human who use the system for various purposes. One end user of the
proposed enrolment system is student. Student will use the system for selecting major, term and
course and getting enrolment in National University. Another end user of the system is
management of National University. The management use the system for getting various reports.
These reports are most popular course and many others. The Information System experts are the
person who develops and maintain the system. The IS experts are developers, administrator,
computer operators and many more.

Hardware Resources: The hardware resources are consisted of materials and physical
devices used for processing the system. The main resources are the computers such as midrange
system and large mainframe system. The printer is another device that must be included in the
hardware resources. Another hardware resource is the server computer. The server computer will
have a database server that will store the data operated by the Enrolment System. Firewall can be
another hardware resource of the system. The organization can also use virtual firewall.
Software Resources: The operating system of the computers and servers are the software
resources. The server operating system will be Windows Server 2012 or Linux Server. The
computer operating system can be any major Operating system such as Windows, Linux or Mac.
Data Resources: The data is the rawest virtual element of the system. The data is
collected from various input sections such as student end, management end and many more. The
data is mainly collected from the student end. These data is later processed by the Enrolment
System to produce information.
Stakeholder Map:
The stakeholder mapping for Enrolment System are identifying, analyzing, mapping and
prioritizing.
Identifying: National University is the biggest stakeholder of the enrolment system. The
university will fund the project and have all the control over the system. The university can
decide to stop the system any time they want. The student is the stakeholder who will be mostly
benefited by the system. They can easily enroll in the University through the system. They can
also make the payment for enrolment through the payment gateway integrated within the system.
The system will have the most contribution over the students. Management of National

University will be the third stakeholder of the system. They will produce various reports on
enrolment using the data stored in the system. Government is the final stakeholder of the system.
Analyzing: Student’s contribution is the biggest. They provide the vital information
during the enrolment. Their claim for engagement is completely legitimate. The students are very
eager to engage into the system. The student have very less influence over the system. The
government does not have any contribution or interest over the system, their influence is the
most. The national University influence the system by changing the business rules and adding or
deleting modules. They the biggest power over the system.

Proposed Outcome:
The proposed outcome would be an Information System that can handle the overall
enrolment process. The system will be able to provide remote access from various desktop. The
student will be able to complete their enrolment process through the system without any other
human intervention. To make sure that student can properly understand the process of enrolment,
the system will provide various hints in several sections and input fields. The system will follow
all the HCI design principles and usability principles to enhance the experience of the system.
The system will not only handle the process of enrolment but also assist the management of
National University to make various decisions. The final system will be capable of producing
various reports based on the stored data.
