AI Summary
This PPMP20012 unit portfolio presents a student's reflection on systems engineering concepts and their application in project management. The portfolio covers several weeks, starting with an understanding of systems thinking, system components, and risk management strategies. It explores various systems thinking tools and techniques, emphasizing their relevance to project managers in solving project problems. The portfolio also assesses the relevance of systems engineering to project cases, and how systems engineering concepts and methodologies can help organize a project, including the importance of selecting appropriate project management application systems. The student references mandatory and optional readings, including SEBoK materials, Kerzner's project management books, and relevant standards. The portfolio demonstrates the student's learning journey, incorporating weekly study insights, and the application of knowledge to real-world project scenarios, highlighting the importance of information sharing and lifecycle processes.

I have learned that a system can be represented with different models like
integrated circuit simulation, 3D computer aided model, software design and
architecture models etc. After learning the 2nd week lecture notes and some
other supporting materials I have learned about the details components of a
system. I have learned that the behaviour and nature of any system can be
characterized through complexities and emergence.
I have also learned that in order to enable any system the actual interest of
those systems should be identified first based on the operational environment. I
have learned details activities offered by the product system, service system,
enterprise system and system of a system capability
Apart from that, I have learnt about the details of risk management plan and the
way through which risk management strategies can mitigate the potential
challenges. Whether a risk is acceptable or not is also measured through risk
tolerance matrix and that measurement approach is also learnt from the week 2
lecture notes. I have also learned about all the components of system thinking in
terms of control behaviour, effectiveness, survival behaviour, regularity and goal
seeking behaviour
