ASSESSMENT TASK TIPS
SHORTCUT KEYS:
** Mac Users – Note your ‘Control’ Key is the ‘Command’ key
Control C Copy (use to duplicate information from one place to another)
Control X Cut (to remove content from one place and paste it somewhere else)
Control V Paste (Once you have information copied/cut – place your mouse/cursor where
you want the content)
Control S Save (Do this FREQUENTLY. You cannot over save, but you can definitely
under save)
Control F Is your friend! This is a shortcut that enables you to find information quickly. By
using this function a find/search box will pop up and you can type in a word. This
will direct you to everywhere in the document/internet page that refers to that
word.
** This only works for an exact match of word, therefore you have to spell the
word correctly and make sure there aren’t extra spaces etc.
** The fewer words you use at one time; the more likely it is to work.
** Don’t use plurals. For example, if you are looking for ‘leadership styles’ – just
write the word ‘leader’ to make sure you capture everywhere it refers to this
word.
Window/Flag D Minimises all your documents and brings you back to your desktop screen (good
when you need to open another document/access something on the desktop)
Control Z Undoes what you just did (typed, deleted, changed)
Control A Selects all (all content in a document/all folders in view)
OTHER TIPS:
** Mac Users: Your ‘View’ tab is the ‘Window’ tab
Use the Contents Page to find the topic/activity number by clicking on it in the list.
Open the Navigation Pane in the ‘View’ tab by selecting the box. This brings up a contents page
column on the left hand side of the screen which is an easy way to navigate around the document.
Select the ‘Two Page’ function in the ‘View’ Tab to bring up two documents side by side (saves
you continually minimising documents back and forth – great for copy and paste)
Split your document by selecting ‘Split’ in the ‘View Tab’. Once selected, a grey line will follow
your cursor - this line will set the split the document in half once clicked, allowing you to view two
parts of the document at once (saving you scrolling up and down – great for copying and pasting).
