communication, External communication and Personal communication. Subordinates are the people in the industry who work below you or directly report to you. In order to have effective communication within the
workplace employees of the organisation should be encouraged to take part in open meeting. In such meeting the employees will not only hear but can also present their views to others. According to exports, some
people understand more better in one on one way therefore there should be one on one discussion in the organisation to avoid any type of miscommunication. There should be not repetition of the information it should
be clearly presented in front of employees that what an organisation want from them.
Internal communication
This type of communication occurs in Taj Samundara Hotel for carrying out operations is known as internal operational communication. This type of organisational communication includes the form of written
and oral.
Oral communication: Oral communication is based on the interaction and communication process through mouth. It involves various forms such as; telephonic conversation, face-to-face conversation,
speeches or discussion, personal interaction, Interviews, etc.
Written communication: This form of written communication includes; Rules and instruction handbook, posters, memos, letters and circulars, handbook and manuals, annual reports, house magazines, etc.
External communication
This communication done with external parties of Taj Samundara Hotel such as; consumers, government agencies, suppliers, local community, regulatory authority, etc. known as external communication.

Samundara is expanding their business in Sri Lanka that make it require excellent spoken and written communication skills in the new and global diverse workplace.
On the other hand (Meuter and et. al., 2015) The communication process of the hotel co-ordinates the efforts of the member towards accomplishing objective and goal of the company. It enhance the low of
information, encourage coordination, prepare people in the industry to accept change, develop good human relation, etc. Moreover, (Modarres, 2016) stated that purpose of oral communication is to promote the brand
in the new market of Sri Lanka that able to attract the tourist as well as to interact with guests effectively that make them able to achieve the loyalty and commitment of the guests. Along with it, the purpose of oral
communication in the hotel is to bring friendly and co-operative team spirit.

effective with the target message. The written communication should formal, understandable and complete and oral communication should clear to understand and maintain the courtesy. The form of written, oral or
visual that is used for marketing such as; advertisement, print media should maintain the culture and social believe of the consumers.
It is recommend to the colleagues and subordinates to facilitate interdepartmental cooperation to have an understanding of the various form of communication as well as their purpose and principles. Along with
it, individual is require to have an understanding of the base of the communication that present the reason for the interaction.
Barriers in communication and strategies to overcome them
The communication skills are necessary in individual within the organisation for the desired outcome. Both oral and written communication skill is necessary to have in the person that working with an industry.
In the context of business, there are some skills that are strength of me and some are the weaknesses are require improvement. Self-analysis will help me to have an proper understanding of the practical and workable
strategies for the improvement.
Strength
As per the self-analysis, I am good at some form of oral communication and some form of written communication. For instance, I am proficient at writing memo, email or other documents as I give all the
background information and detail that ensure that my message is understood. I am good at writing emails and generally use email to communicate complex issues with people as it is quick and efficient.
Weaknesses
One of the biggest weakness in terms of communication in the business context is I am not a good listener as my concentration breaks that is not appropriate for an effective meeting in the organisation. Other
than that I concluded that, face to face conversation is not effective as I am self-conscious. Furthermore, I am very bad at writing business letter that is essential to build goodwill to transfer organisational message
effectively.
Moreover that are various barriers in the effective communication process such as; external barriers, organisational barriers and personal barriers. In my personal communication I faced emotional and
psychological barrier. Along with it, the organisational barriers is also appears such as; the structure of hotel, organisational rules and regulations, etc.
The barriers can be improved by proper training and coaching but it is essential to consider that the strategies should be workable and practical. For example; listening skills will develop by developing attention
and focus on the things that are discussed in the meeting. Along with it, taking time is necessary before reacting on the conversation. For developing or improving face to face conversation it is essential to build
confidence. It can be enhance by giving more and more presentation or by practically practising the face to face communication will really works and help individuals. (Bovée, Thill and Raina, 2016) mentioned that the
physiological barrier can be overcome by daily practice.
Applying principles of effective communication to enhance practice
The principle of communication can applied in the Taj Samundara hotel that help the company to enhance the practices and to overcome the barriers in the communication process. The principles are essential to
consider and in conducting any form of communication, communicator require to consider principle of effective communication
For that purpose, leader and manager of the hotel also conducts proper training session to the staff so that they are able to communicate within and outside of the hotel effectively.
