Section One: Title, objective, responsibilities
Title or working title of the research project (in the form of a
question, objective or hypothesis)
Introduction
Talent management refers to the process of attracting and retaining
employees at workplace. Main purpose of this project is to identify
the different strategies of managing talent (Anlesinya and Amponsah-
Tawiah, 2020). Burberry is a chosen fashion house for this report.
Aim: “To examine the various strategies of talent management in improving the
productivity of an organisation”. A study on Burberry.

What do you want to learn how to do? What do you want to find
out?):
Research Objectives:
To determine the role of talent management in enhancing the productivity of an
organisation.
To assess the effective strategies of talent management adopted by Burberry to
improve the performance of human resource.
To identify the issues faced by Burberry while implementing talent management
strategies.
Research Questions:

organisation?
What are the effective strategies of talent management adopted by Burberry to
improve the performance of human resource?
What are the issues faced by Burberry while implementing talent management
strategies?
Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are
studying, personal interest, future plans, knowledge/skills you want
to improve, why the topic is important):
The topic is chosen to carry out research to understand the various strategies of talent
management for successful organisation. The main cause to select this topic is it would
help in achieving perspectives: personal and professional (Cascio and Aguinis, 2018).
From the personal perspective it would help me in applying such strategies and adopting
same features in self personality. From professional perspective it would help me in
creating good professional career and developing great personality according to the
profession.
Section Three: Literature sources searched
Use of key literature sources to support your research question,
objective or hypothesis:
Roles of talent management in enhancing the productivity of an organisation
According to Ogbari and et. Al (2018), talent management plays an important role in an
organisation to increase the productivity of an organisation because it manages people
who are responsible for taking out production activities of an organisation. Talent
management continuously make effort to retain and develop employees so that
productivity can be maximised.
The effective strategies of talent management adopted by Burberry to improve the
performance of human resource
According to Mupepi (2017) Burberry has also adopted effective strategies of talent
management so that every employee knows about their roles and responsibilities they
have to perform. Some of the strategies adopted are: description of jobs in detail,
candidate that fits according to the nature of organisations, providing opportunities for
future development and improvement. These are the strategies used by Burberry to retain
3

employees in the workplace. Managers of Burberry clearly focuses on providing
description of various vacant positions in details so that candidates who are approaching
for that particular position so that candidates do not misinterpret the job description. And
they also focus on selecting candidates who can adjust in the culture of organisation.
Issues faced by Burberry while implementing talent management strategies
According to Cascio and Aguinis (2018), issues faced by Burberry while implementing
talent strategies are: inexperience with automated technology, high employee turnover as
current employees are not satisfied with the organisation, inefficiency and
ineffectiveness of leadership as to carry out the activities of talent management it is
necessary to have strong leaders.
Section Four: Activities and timescales

Gantt Chart
Gantt chart is a kind of chart that makes a schedule of projects which is invented by
Henry Gantt, designed in the year 1910-1915. It is the chart which shows the relation
between tasks that have to be done and the present status of schedule (Whysall, Owtram
and Brittain, 2019). It has two axis, in the vertical axis tasks are located whereas
horizontal axis shows time given to complete each task.

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
What type of research approach and methodologies are you likely to
use and why? What your areas of research will cover:
Research Philosophy: In the philosophies there are two types: positivism and
interpritivism. According to the need of research, research selects positivism because it
helps in gathering information in quantitative style (Taylor, 2018). Interpretivism
philosophy is not selected because it helps in collecting quantitative information which
does not assist in supporting the objectives of research.
Research approach: In this there are two approaches: inductive and deductive. By
looking at the need of the current research, investigator has chosen deductive because it
help in testing numeric information (Collings and Isichei, 2018). Inductive approach is
not chosen by investigator as they need quantitative data rather than qualitative
information.
Research strategies: It is the strategy used by investigator to collect and evaluate
information similar to topic. For the present research topic, researcher has selected
questionnaire because it helps in receiving data that is first hand and raw. The collected
data through questionnaire are very raw which has not taken out at earlier time. Through
questionnaire close ended questions are asked from participants which assist in
generating opinions and views of respondents.
Research choice: There are two types of choices: quantitative and qualitative.
Researcher selects quantitative choice because quantitative assists in gathering numerical
data on which research relies and depend to carry out research successfully
(Golubovskaya, Solnet and Robinson, 2019). Quantitative research choice assists in
gathering information which assist in measuring data numerically whereas qualitative
data is not considered by researcher because it does not assist in measuring data and
qualitative information is more subjective manner.
Time horizon: Longitudinal and cross sectional are two types available with researcher.
6
Document Page
Researcher adopts cross sectional time horizon because it helps in finishing of research
on time by achieving all the objectives of research. Through cross-sectional researcher
focuses on attaining objectives on time as it does not take much time whereas in
longitudinal time horizon does not use by researcher because of its nature as it takes
much time in completing all the aim and objectives of research.
Sampling: Sampling referred as technique considered by researcher as it selects
respondents for conducting research on time. There are two types of probability and non-
probability. Probability sampling is used by researcher because it assists in selecting
samples randomly. Probability method is selected for that 20 respondents are selected as
sample from Burberry. These are employees who know everything related to the
organisation (Mupepi, 2017). The another method is non probability sampling which
does not support the aim of current research and it assists in selecting samples non
randomly.
Data collection: Data collection refers to the method which assist in collecting data
through various methods. These are the methods which assist researcher in gathering
information according to the nature of objectives. There are two types of method to
collect information: primary and secondary. Researcher uses both method because they
are necessary to gather data. For primary 20 employees are selected whereas for
secondary data books, journal articles are used (Ogbari and et. Al, 2018). In primary data
collection researcher gets raw data but in secondary data collection researcher chooses
books, articles and magazines and in this data already exists in the universe.
