Chapter 3: Research Methodology
Research Approach: It is a detailed plan and procedure that defines the steps of broad
assumptions regarding methods of collecting data, analysing and interpreting which is based on
research topic that needs to be investigated. An appropriate research approach can help the
researcher in efficiently achieving the objectives and aims of the research. There are essentially
two types of research approaches: Inductive and deductive. For this project, Inductive approach
is a logical approach which starts with the collection of data from multiple sources that are
believed to be true. It involves a process of creating new concepts or theories by the way of
updating informations regularly (Silva, Santana, Lobato and Pinheiro, 2017). On the other hand,
deductive approach that first begins with a theory and then developing a hypothesis on that
theory so that data can be collected and analysed so as to test the hypothesis. For conducting this
research inductive is an approach that will be used as it will help in achieving the objectives of
this investigation in the best possible manner by extracting in-depth knowledge on the data
collected.
Primary and secondary methods of research:
Primary methods of research: Primary data inform as a information collected via first-
hand or original research. There are different sources that will be used for collecting primary
information. It includes group discussion, market survey, questionnaire etc. These are effective
sources of data collection but according to current investigation, questionnaire is more useful and

sources such as internet, newspaper articles, company reports, magazines and so on. These are
main sources which will beneficial for researcher in collection of secondary information (Valerio

helps researcher to find out impact and collect accurate data about the study. Positivism is
Document Page
another type of philosophy which will be not appropriate for researcher because it needs more
time of organisation or researcher.
Sampling method: Probability is a type of sampling method which will be applied for
selecting sample size out of total population for current investigation. 20 respondents will be
selected by using connivance as a type of non-probabilistic sampling. Main intent behind
choosing this method as it save time and cost of researcher or enterprise. Probability is another
part of sampling which is not much appropriate for current study. As it require maximum sources
and time of company (Hacıömeroğlu and Bulut, 2016).
Types of research: Qualitative and quantitative are two types of research. For performing
each activity of current investigation, qualitative research will be applied by researcher. Main
intent behind selecting qualitative research as it will support researcher by giving quality and
proper information about the investigation. Quantitative is another type of research which is not
useful according to the current investigation. As it requires data in form of figures, numbers, hard
facts which take more time of business and researcher.
Primary and secondary are two types of investigation which will be more useful for
research worker to collect reliable and in-depth information regarding the talent management
(Casey, Schwartz, Stewart and Adler, 2016). For conducting primary and secondary
investigation, there are different methods which will be appropriate for hospitality industry are
determine as below:
Costs: It is one of the main method which must be needed by researcher while
performing each activities of primary and secondary research in systematically. In adaptation of
different methods and techniques appropriate amount of capital will be needed by researcher. As
cost is useful and valuable method for researcher while conducting of primary and secondary
investigation in systematic manner.
Access: It can be determined as the appropriate academic and ethical practices applied to
gain entry to a given community for the motive of conducting primary and secondary research.
This type of entry explores the key problems related to acquiring access to researchers in
qualitative research. As it will helps researcher to provide access to each participants to give their
