Summary of the key points presented in the article:(minimum of 200word)
This article highlights the importance of recruiting as well as retaining talent in
an organization, largely because of how competitive and profit oriented the market
place has become in today’s day and age. Talented people need to be hired in large
numbers to keep an organization functioning as profitably as it should be. The article
specifically points out the importance and the need for recruiting and retaining
women leaders in business orgnizations. The special focus area of the article is the
hospitality industry. The author of the article argues that while women are seen to
constitute half of the workforce in the country of America, it is in the domain of
hospitality that women are represented better than men, compared to other
industries. Women comprise as much as fifty to seventy percent of the population in
the hospitality industry. The article therefore argues that women should definitely be
recruited to positions of power and leadership in the hospitailty sector. The
hospitality industry is heavily populated today by women and the author of the article
therefore believes that by attracting, engaging and retaining women in their
organizations, especially in positions of leadership, a definite competitive advantage
can be created, that will suit both women, as well as the owners of such hospitality
organiztions.

How does the article link to the any of the Statements? (Minimum of 150 words)
The article talks about the different ways in which gender bias can be fought in order
to make women feel more included at the work place. The article refers to the manner
in which gender bias is exercised in job situations by paying women less than men,
not giving maternity leave, making women feel like they cannot have a career if they
decide to get married and have a family etc. According to the author of the article,
special efforts need to be made to create a work place that is characterized by a
gender neutral ambience. Facilities should also be made to provide women with the
opportunity to do their work in a way that allows for greater work life balance. Career
women are mothers and wives too and need to balance both their domestic needs
with their professional duties as best as they can.
What questions did the article raise for you and how has this influenced what you will
select to read over the next week? (Minimum of 150 words)
What the article personally did for me is that it made me understand how women have
the potential to do very well for themselves on the professional front and how they
can achieve great heights professionally without having to compromise in any way on
a family life. If the organization at which women work recognize them as valuable
human beings, show consideration where needed and encourage them to reach the
top most positions in that organization without worrying about feeling discouraged in
any way, then only can the organization increase its competitive advantage
considerably. The article has given me the motivation to read up a lot on feminist
literature, particularly to understand how women can be of great value for a company
or a business organization.
