process as well as select data associated to the particular topic. In addition to this, it is one of the
important part of conducting study which assist in reflecting the overall evaluation of research
with their validity as well as reliability (Brizek, 2014). In this, various factors that is research
philosophy, approach, paradigm, collection & analysis of information is included which are
undertaken as a research onion that is given below:
Research design: It is referred as the process which assist in identifying the research
problem by different types of research design such as exploratory, experimental and descriptives
as well. In order to determine the research problem through quantitative sources, descriptive
research design is appropriate that is applied by the investigator in the present study.

interpretivism philosophy, in which positivism philosophy is undertaken in order to perform this
investigation in a systematic manner. It is stated that interpretivism philosophy is mainly based
in the principles which are applied and used to state that investigator performs and play a
particular role in observing the different concepts and phenomenon of social world (Bussin,
2014). Positivism philosophy tends to state that “genuine” knowledge is exclusively and
basically derived from the understanding and experience of natural phenomenon & their relations
and properties as well.
Justification: The selected philosophy is mainly based on the facts which leads to
improved sensory experience that is based and interpreted on logic and reason. In addition to
this, it help researcher to gather quantitative information that further assist in developing valid
and reliable conclusion effectively.
Research approach: There are mainly two types of research approaches that is deductive
and inductive approach. Inductive approach consist of resemblances, patterns, regularities within
experience are observed mainly for reaching or develop effective conclusion. On the other hand,
deductive research approach is one which is line with positivism philosophy & facilitate better

TASK 4
P6 Reflection
I am glad for attaining this opportunity to perform study on a broad topic that is “ Talent
management for entrepreneurs and small businesses”. A study on Rowlinson Knitwear. By
conducting this research, I improved my learning about the effectiveness of talent management
on small businesses. Apart from this, I faced problems associated to time, ineffective behaviour
of participants and so on. For resolving the issue of time, I used Gantt chart and also followed
every principle of ethics. Moreover, for gather data about the research, I adopted questionnaire
that is more appropriate for me in collection of valid and reliable information.
P7 Consider alternative research methodologies and lessons learnt in view of the outcomes.
There are various ways for conducting a survey and the most common and the easiest way of
them all is the with the help of the questionnaire. For the collection of data there are primarily
two types of method and these methods are the qualitative and the quantitative method. For the
survey regarding the talent management the the organisation used the quantitative measure. The
alternate ways for the fulfilment of this task is with the help of conducting interview. With the
help for the interview the organisation will be able to make sure that they will be getting the best
information. As with the help of the personal interview it may be possible that they employees
will give better answer to all the question (Murugesan and Jayavelu, 2017). Through this the
researcher will also be adding new perspective for thinking. With the help of the personal
interview the employees will be able to answer better, as the questionnaire will only be providing
the respondents with limited answer whereas the in case with the personal interview both the
respondent and the researcher will be able to answer with different perceptive. Another one of
the research methodology is to use the process of observation. This type of method sure is time
taking but through this type of method the cost for the research will be reduced. This will allow
the manger to get better insight for the research. Although both these type of the data will only
be providing the researcher with the qualitative aspect of the research, but it will provide them
better insight about what they wanted to know. The researcher will have to sharpen their senses
for getting better qualitative aspect of the data they want to achieve.

and did not help in getting results in quantitative form.
Research Philosophy: It is basically a procedure of using, gathering as well as analyzing
the data about the particular topic. In addition to this, there are mainly two philosophies of
research that is interpretivism and positivism (Kontoghiorghes, 2016). For the present
investigation, Positivism philosophy is appropriate and valuable as it assist In gathering as
well as analyzing numerical information without any issues like cost, resources and time as
well. On the other hand, Interpretivism philosophy is not important in present research as it is
mainly based on qualitative information that needs maximum resources.
Research Approach: It is the procedure used by researcher in order to evaluate quantitative
and qualitative data by means of deductive and inductive approach. For the present study,
deductive research approach will be applied as it provide quantitative information and not
undertake high time. On the other side, Inductive approach is not useful in present
investigation as it need data which is in the form of qualitative that takes more time and
resources as well.
Research Strategy: There are different research strategies such as case study, survey,
action research and so on. All these are important strategies but as per the research topic,
survey is one of the beneficial research strategy as it facilitate researcher to gather and
analyze the primary and quantitative information in less time frame.
Research Choice: There are mainly two research choices that is quantitative and qualitative.
Both these methods are useful and effective but as per the topic, quantitative research choice
is helpful as it assist in gaining valid outcomes in less time and cost as well (Lawler, 2017). In
relation to Qualitative research choice, it is not appropriate for the present study as It require
high sources & also not assist in choosing of large sample size.
Sampling: It introduces as a procedure which is followed by investigator in order to select the
sample size from large population. In addition to this, there are two sampling methods that is
probabilistic and non-probabilistic method. Random sampling method, a form of probability
sampling method is taken into consideration and on this basis 30 employees of Rowlinson
