MAIN BODY
Research methodology
Research methodology is known to be the particular methods which is being used to
identify, for recognising, collecting and analysing the relevant information about the topic
which is being selected by the researcher (Snyder, 2019) . Research methodology evaluates the
reader as well to gain the knowledge in deep due to the research methodology. For the research
methodology, different qualitative and quantitative research have been used to get the knowledge
in deep.
Research type- Research type shows the method through which the data is being collected and
gathered by the researcher which will help the researcher to attain their objective of the research.
Research type mainly categorised into two parts - qualitative and quantitative research.
Qualitative research is concerned theories and humanities it do not considerer any type of
numerical and statistical data. Qualitative research is good for getting in- depth knowledge about
the selected topic and also refer the insight and problems which is related with the topic as the
researcher involves various theories and get the result of any problem by going in deep of every
issue. On the one hand, quantitative research is totally opposite in nature and it does not believe
in theories and assumptions. This research type is fully based on measurements, numbers and
statistical. Quantitative research uses numerical analysis so that the researcher gets accurate
result of the topic. The outcomes and result which is collected from quantitative research is large
in size, data which is gathered by the research generally present in theform of charts, graphs, and
in tabular form so it become easy for the researcher and the reader as well. In this report the
research types has been used to get the better result and knowledge.
Research philosophy – This is the pillar of entire research, and the whole research is based on
research philosophy only. Mainly there are two type of philosophy have been used for the
research. Interpretive theory and positivism theory (Ørngreen and et.al, 2017) . Interpretivism
theory is linked with qualitative research, which is fully based on the various assumptions and
beliefs so that the research will get more precise and relevant data which makes their research
more deep and relevant. As the name concern positivism philosophy provides more genuine,
updated and true facts about the topic so the research can implement such facts for better
understanding. This philosophy uses the numerical figures and data to provide exact and true
information and facts. This philosophy provides correct data to researcher which makes their

Interpretivism research but if the positivism research then the entire research will become
lengthy and time consuming. Apart from this, positivism research works on scientific methods
and the analysed result from this research philosophy are very unrealistic and also complex in
nature.
Research approach - The research approach is related to strategies, plans and policies to the
research which speaks about the wide range of assumptions and different types of method which
implemented by the researcher for the collection of the data (Zangirolami and et.al, 2018). This
research approach is also divided into two parts – inductive research and deductive research.
Deductive research includes test and also it is concerned with the checking of availability of
assumptions. It shows that the assumption are valid or not as per the research. Whatever theories
have been used by the researcher is being verified by deductive research. To get the accurate
result, researcher goes through to all the past researches so that they may get the best result.
Inductive research is based on the view, observation and monitoring of the theories and
assumptions which have been taken by the researcher. Inductive approach has been implied in
this research. The main reason behind not using deductive research approach is that it is hard to
understand for the reader apart from this those who are new and younger learners they do not
cop-up the concept of this approach.
Data collection - it is referred as the procedure of identifying, collective, measuring and
analysing the data which is used in the research. This is also come in two various methods –
primary research and secondary research. Primary research is totally based on the researcher, in
which researcher they collect and gather all the relevant data for the research. Sources also
selected by the researcher, it is in the hand of the researcher who will be part of their study and
who are not, and this method help the researcher to meet its demands. This assists the researcher
to collect the accurate data. It provides depth knowledge to the researcher. The common and
widely used methods for primary research are interview and survey. But secondary method is
opposite to this, in this method researcher collect the data from the newspaper, internet and
magazines. Secondary data is those which are already collected by others and available for
further usage. Primary data collection method has been used in this report. As the secondary
data was not providing the accurate answer of researcher’s specific questions, because the

data was not providing the accurate answer of researcher’s specific questions, because the

content specific information is necessary for the researcher. Apart from this, the accuracy of
secondary data is also missing which is why secondary data has not been used.
Sampling - from two methods samples get collected i.e. probability and non probability
sampling. In probability sampling all the resources collected randomly without considering any
fixed criteria. But in non – probability sampling, sources and respondents collected in the basis
of some criteria. In this report, probability sampling has been used and 20 respondents have
been taken and they are the employees of the company.
Data analysis- Qualitativedata analysed by using different tools and methods like – thematic
data analysis method (Nayak and et.al, 2021). On the other hand quantitative data uses various
quantitative tools like – SPSS, Excel etc. But in this report research will use thematic data which
is based on different themes, graphs and pie-charts; this makes the entire research valuable and
relevant.
Ethical consideration- This is being used in the research to know that is this research valid or
not, and it describes that the researcher has followed all the standard and rules while preparing
this research. It also explains that when the researcher was finding the data, they have followed
the standard and collected data is not copied and duplicate from any source. In this report
declaration is also mentioned which shows the reliability of the research.
Validity and reliability – This method is used for testing the information which is being used by
the researcher in the research and the collected data is totally reliable and the data do not get
misrepresented by the researcher. It shows that all the data which is mentioned in this research is
collected from different sources.
Data analysis
Data analysis is one of the important part of research where the data which is gathered by
the researcher is evaluated and form meaningful data which gives meaningful conclusions and
provide the relevant findings. In the current investigation, questionnaire is used to collect the
necessary information and the collected information is analysed using thematic test technique in
the following ways. Primary data is collected through questionnaire and secondary data is
gathered through literature review.
Theme 1: Majority of employees feel that the company is mainly facing workforce shortage
challenge.
secondary data is also missing which is why secondary data has not been used.

considered effective in increasing workforce motivation. Through this company can retain high
potential employees. Although Tesco is providing monetary benefits in the form of rewards but
providing career potential opportunities can also help company to stop their employees from

Managers should also work in enhancing leadership capabilities of their workforce because it is
also one of the retention method. It is not necessary that monetary benefits will only contribute in
retaining staff but providing them mentoring programs in which employees can build skills and
brush their interpersonal relations can help to retain high performer employees. Another retention
technique is tuition reimbursement, company can provide fees to employee who want to do job

Reflection
The entire report which is conducted above, I have found some major finding and also
developed some skills which will help me in the near future (Ngozwana, 2018) . When I was
conducting their research I faced multiple issues whichbecome hurdle in my entire research. In
this research the one factor which disturb me a lot was time management, earlier I was not able
to management work with time and this has happened with me in this research. As I was not
able to collect and gather the data within given time which was a hurdle for me. But now as the
research went on learnt the time management skills. Another thing which makes this research
got delayed is that I am habitual of reading and analysing anything in detail. So all the task takes
a lot of time to get completed. Throughout this research I learnt planning and management to
complete each and every task I did planning and as per that I follow all the steps so that I was
able to complete the entire research. However I learnt that how I can complete different activities
and task at the same time. This research helps me to increase my analytical research and this will
going to help me in my career as well. Apart from this, when I was doing data analysis, the
respondents which I have taken they were not co-operating me and also they were not available
at the given time. For that I have to wait a lot and this makes the research delayed. And when
they get time I have to face a lot of questions of their, that why I am conducting this research etc.
The investigation which is conducted in the report, from that it can be concluded talent
management is very important to the organization. TM helps in the recruiting and retaining top
performer employees of the company. Talent management motivates employees and which
boosts their morale. It also helps in attracting young talent. When company will have less
employee turnover than it reputation in the market also gets increased and many candidates get
attracted towards company. The research has also shown that how talent management is helping
Tesco in achieving their goals and objectives and also what strategies company has selected to do
talent management.
