INTRODUCTION
Talent management refers as a constant procedure that evolves in attracting and retaining
high quality employees, creating their skills and constantly influencing them to enhance their
performance. The main purpose of the talent management is to develop a highly competitive and
motivated workforce who will support company to stay long run in the business market. It is
important for the organization’s success becausethey enhance employee’s turnover in the
workplace and makes them enable to gain all short-term and long-term goals within timeframe
which ultimately leads profitability in the business(Paradis and et.al., 2016). In the research
proposal will discuss about impact of talent management on the company’s success with the
great example of Tesco plc. It is a British multinational and general merchandise company which
is headquartered in UK. This research proposal will include aims and objective over the
proposed research topic.
Rationale
This research has wide scope in future perspective because in this research will discuss
about current issues that actually faces by company while adapting talent management approach.
It also will highlight impact of talent management on the organization’s success with the support
of real-life example of organization. So, it will support other MNC’s to understand significance
of talent management and related issues priorly. This research also will include suggestions for
the talent management over the identified challenges.So it will great opportunity for the retail
companies to implement all probable solutions over the identified challenges through which can
reduce negative impact of talent management and improves sustainability of the business in the
business market.
Significance
This research will be proved to be beneficial for the human resource and the employees
of Tesco company. It will also benefit the HRM of other retailer companies who wish to develop

According to McDonnelland et.al., (2017) talent management is the systematic
management approach that undertakes by company to make it’s workforce highly successful,
dedicated and competent in the workplace who stay long time with the company and brings lots
of commercial benefits. Talent management is not supported company to improve employee’s
performance but also it supports to increase effectiveness in recruitment strategies so that right
talent can be selected for the particular job role. Thus, talent management plays vital role in the
organization. However, Khoreva, Vaimanand Van Zalk, (2017)have quoted about impact of
talent management with the support of real-life example Tesco in their published research papers
that talent management plays significant role in leading success in the business. For example,
company gets effective workforce in the company due to this company enables to gain number

of short-term goals within timeframe which ultimately helps to achieve competitive edge over
the competitors in the business market. Retention rate of the employees have increased in the
Tesco without offering additional commercial benefits due to the talent management. For
example, talent management organizes training sessions for the staff and influences them to
become career-oriented by improving their existing working skills that attracts other talented
applicants to apply in the Tesco. In addition, Tesco does not have to face aby employee
resistance as well which taking emerging changes to enhance company’ exposure. Thus, talent
management supports company to achieve more success in the retail industry.
However, other otherCollings, Mellahiand Cascio, (2019)have been criticized about
talent management in the published books that there are various challenges that obtains in the
company due to talent management.Challenges with the talent management is to increase
employee’s turnover, lack of leadership, higher compensation demands etc. due to this company
gets negative impact on it’s organization culture which ultimately affects organization’s
performance in the business market. Even talent management also faces various issues in the
company such as employee resistance issue, pressure to perform etc. which affects it’s strategies
which are used by talent management to make workforce highly competent in the workplace.But
some Whysall, Owtram and Brittain, (2019) said in Books that company can deal with the
challenges which are obtained from the talent management such as by following effective
leadership style, conducts some entertainment program in weekends and allows them to
communicate with other staff over the discussion related to project. Thus, companies can get
positive aspects of talent management in the business.
Research Methodology
Research Type:Qualitative research method will be used for the proposed research topic
because quality is essential for the project. In addition, it is quite easy, simpler method as
compared others.
Research Philosophy: In this research, positivism method will be used to develop realistic
and authentic theories systematically (Queirós, Faria and Almeida, 2017). The reason
behind is that it provides realistic data which already available in the market.
Research Design: In this research assignment will use inductive research design because
it will help in gathering data and improves productivity of the business.

Research Approach:Exploratory research method will take in practice in this research
assignment because it is quite effective in drawing logical conclusion.
Research Sampling:In this research assignment will use non-probability sampling method
for selecting number of employees as a sample population randomly out of overall staff
population. There are 10 employees will be selected from the Tesco’s staff as sample
population for the interview session.
Data Collection:For this research, primary and secondary both methods will be used
because these are important for collecting data systematically.
Data Analysis: Thematic method will be used for this research assignment because it
supports in distributing overall data into themes which can be easily interpreted by the
support of questionnaires. It is the major reason to use only this method for the data
analysis.
Ethical Consideration: In this research assignment will meet with all legislations and
regulations that have imposed by government for the research, by the research and
maintains respect and dignity of sample population during interview session.
