Introduction
Talent management is a vital concept for every organisation that helps a business orgnisation
to recruit, hire and retain most talented and best employees who have efficient skills in the field
of their work. Thus, many strategic approaches are adopted and implemented by a business
organisation to set out better talent management (Ardyanfitri and Wahyuningtyas, 2018). The
current project is based on Tesco plc which is a well known multinational retailer and provider of
groceries and general merchandise with main headquarter situated in the Welwyn Garden City,
Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom. The current project consists of determination of aim
and objectives based on the theme of talent management along with providing a detailed and
effective project management plan with the purpose of meeting set objectives through
emphasising on the cost, quality, time, scope and other vital aspects of a project. Apart from this,
use of Gantt chart and Work breakdown structure are also made for setting better time frames
and stages of completion for current project. Beside this, a small scale research us also
undertaken and conducted through making use of secondary and primary form of data to meet
and accomplish set objectives. At last, proper presentation and analysis of research findings are
also provided to reach and form a valid conclusion and viable set of recommendation along with
providing a reflection in the value and own learning undertaken while performing current
investigation.

In present business environment the concept of talent management is taken as strategic
priority and essential for all organisation as it is an integral origin that facilitates and ensures
better recruiting and hiring of talented employees along with retaining current skilled employees
for a longer time span which is vital for better achievement of organisational goals (Baharin and
Hanafi, 2018). Further, it has been analysed that the talent management strategies and
approaches are viable to meet current and future needs of an organisation through leading a

pathway and efficient programmes for better growth of talents along with setting an effective
ordination with HR practises to promote and sustain better talent development at workplace

The organisation on which current assignment is based is Tesco Plc which is among the
one of the largest retailer of UK that is providing a number of products to its customers
comprising of Food, Beverages, Bakery products, Frozen food, Technology and gaming products
along with Home electrical products and car products, with all other Sports and leisure products,
Party and gift products, Entertainment and books, Health and beauty products along with
Clothing and jewellery. Tesco is a multinational company the main headquarter of which is
located at Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom along with various
branches in many Europe and Asian countries (Buttrick, 2018). Thus, it has become more vital
and essential for Tesco plc to focus on management of its large workforces and huge number of
employees who belonging to different background and perspective. Many organisation are there,
Like Google company which had achieved much better results and advantages through
implementing and adopting effective strategies for Talent management which are reflecting that
a positive influence is lead by strategic talent management approach in success and betterment of
a firm. The approach and strategic way adopted by Google comprises of forming of a different
HR governance to monitor and check the recruiting and hiring of talented employees. Further,
implication of effective communication and proper training and development session is also
made by Google commonly as strategic approach to talent management (5 Strategic Approaches
to Talent Management in The Workplace, 2020). Thus, an analysis can be made that Tesco
company is also needed to develop and adopt some effective talent management strategies and
approaches for better management of its employees to have positive influence on its success and
betterment. Therefore, Tesco plc is selected for current project which is having following below
stated aim and objectives:

Time- This aspect of project management report basically represent the expected time
frames and duration required for undertaking and completing a research project thus associated
with its efficiency. With respect to current investigation, an expected time period of 3-4 months

Resource- It provides information about the various forms of assets and resources that are

It represent a time management and statistical tool which is used to bring clarity and
transparency in research work through systematically presenting all the research work in a proper

chart is used for current investigation to avoid overlapping of work and ensures timely

P4) Undertaking a small-scale research by applying primary and secondary methods
This section of project provides information about the various forms and types of resrch
methods that are applied by an investigator to execute and perform a study in a better way. A
description about the main researcher method that has been used for current research project has
been provided below along with a justification for their selection for performing current study.
Types of research method
Basically there are two common types of research method consists of qualitative and
quantitative form of investigation. Among these two types, the qualitative nature of method is
mainly considered more time consuming and complex as it consists of collection of data in in-
depth and detailed form that is more time consuming as well as complex for an investigator (Neri
and Wilkins, 2019). Therefore, use of quantitative nature of research method seemed more
suitable and viable for current project. Selection of quantitative nature of research method is
based on the justification as it tend to collect data and information in numeric terms that ensures
and leads to a more measurable and specific form of conclusion which enhance viability and
authenticity of result.
Data collection sources
Mainly data could be collected from two sources i.e. primary and secondary sources that
are taken as origin of data. With respect to current study on Tesco implication and use of both
primary and secondary sources of data collection are made as primary source ensures first hand
and latest set of information where as secondary sources leads to better support and base for
investigation through help of past facts and records (Pauli, 2018). Further, questionnaire is used
as research instrument for collection of primary data where as secondary information is gathered
from online article and journals.
Sample Method
Use of sampling method is made for optimum use of resources along with leading
timely completion of project through selection of a significant number of observation from a
large number of population (Presbitero, 2017). In accordance with the current small scale
research, a significant number of 25 participants had been selected from the employees of Tesco
