Tampa General Hospital started in 1927 in Davis Island (Caldeira et al. 2016). The
facility was initially known as the Tampa Municipal Hospital. The hospital had one hundred and
eighty-six beds at the start. Tampa Hospital used Gordon Keller School for the nursing facility
requirements. However, the facility has grown, and today it has one thousand and ten beds in
place. Besides that, the hospital is now recognized nationally for quality medical facilities.
There are numerous services offered at this facility. For instance, bloodless medicine and
surgery (Kumar et al. 2016). The Tampa hospital introduced the above service to cater for people
who do not like blood products. The facility is committed to ensuring that those who develop
reactions to blood have access to treatment. The bloodless care service comprises of cancer
surgery, critical care, cardiology, outpatient surgery among many surgical services. Another vital
function of this facility is the burn service. The hospital treats and takes care of the severely
burned patients. There are eighteen beds set aside for the emergency and rehabilitation of the
burned patient. Apparently, the American Burn Association credited the Tampa Hospital to offer
services to burn patients. Apart from that, Tampa hospital also handles various diseases of the

endocrine system and any other complication that may company the disorders. Several qualified
physician and care staffs in the facility manage the patient very well.
On the other hand, Tampa General Hospital also provides advanced cancer services. The
medical practitioners in the facility can diagnose, treat and take care of patients reporting cancer
in them. In addition to all the above functions, the facility is also committed to providing other
services such as the laboratory services, throat, and ear and nose problems and lastly is the heart
and vascular complications.
On the leadership side, the board of directors’ leads the hospital followed by the medical
staff officers and on end, the bottom is the senior management team. Apart from the above
leaders, one thousand two hundred community members and college physicians are committed to
ensuring that excellent services are rendered in the hospital. There are other eight thousand
employees promoting services to more than a population of six thousand.
The facility has a mission, which is to provide comprehensive healthcare service to all the
people of West Central Florida (Sampson et al. 2018). The health services run from the first
service to a more complex health complication. The hospital also does its best to ensure proper
medical knowledge and research in the area. On the side of vision, Tampa General Hospital
maintains the lead in the provision of quality clinical services to the residents of Florida. The
hospital will continue to cooperate community and academically qualified people in ensuring
quality health care. Regarding philosophy, the facility is dedicated to providing quality clinical
education on the side of the laboratory. Besides that, the hospital believes in the values of
excellence, integrity, compassion, and accountability.

Basing on the vision, mission and values of the Tampa General Hospital, the services
expected from this facility should improve quality, accepted and of significant influence. The
medical staff of the institution are highly trained. However, some challenges are facing Tampa

among others (Snyder et al. 2017).
