Customers: TCS targets enterprise firms and clients at both global and domestic end
which extends their possibilities, facilitates stable market growth rate and better
performance in core operations. The quality and adaptability of TCS in their offerings
enables favorable growth promoters.
Competitors: TCS being in market leadership position and higher capital ability
within industry weakens new entrants. Further TCS has less scope of differentiation
of product or services, so suppliers benefit less and have weak control over prices.
Also suppliers in industry where TCS functions are huge compared to number of
companies producing these so buyers have limited choice of firms and have less
control on prices, which makes bargain capacity of buyers weak (Chakraborty,
Munshi & Gupta, 2018). Further few substitutes are available in industry where TCS
operates which produces low profit earnings. Also TCS has few competitors which
are mostly large scale so they involve in gaining position and market share through
competition which makes rivalry strong.
Company: TCS spends hugely on R&D initiatives to maintain its industry leadership
in wide category of IT related products and services involving application
development, capacity planning, consulting, software development and management.
TCS even makes large investment to build its IT network, marketing, product design
and process optimization (Agarwal, 2016). Moreover TCS has robust culture of
product and process innovation where top authorities encourage creativity and
problem solving procedure in staffs which helps them attain advantages of economies
of scale as well as strong competitive capabilities.
Collaborators: Collaborators of TCS involves downstream and upstream value chain
partners, business allies, government etc. and so they improve supply and distribution
network to enhance control, efficacy between collaborators to improve revenue
sharing with partners. In 2019 TCS had revenues of around 20.9 bn USD (TCS,
2019).
