Report
AI Summary
This report provides a detailed comparison between the OSI and TCP/IP network reference models, focusing on their application in a retail store network environment. It includes network reference model diagrams for both TCP/IP and OSI layers, illustrating the roles of each layer in data transmission. A revised network reference model diagram is presented, based on a proposed network solution for the retail store using TCP/IP. The report also features data flow diagrams for both TCP/IP and OSI layers, representing the current dual-stacked network environment, along with a revised data flow diagram based on the proposed network solution. The analysis concludes that the TCP/IP model is more reliable and suitable for end-to-end connections, highlighting its robustness, flexibility, and clarity in data transmission over the internet. 1. Introduction
This project aims to compare the OSI and TCP/IP network reference models. First, user
needs to create the network reference model diagram for retail store current network and it is
used to describe the roles of each layer for both TCP/IP and OSI layer. And, create the revised
network reference model diagram for proposed network solution for retail store by using the
TCP/IP or OSI. Based on current dual stacked network environment must be create the data flow
diagram for TCP/IP and OSI layer. Finally, creates the revised data flow diagram based on the
proposed network solution. These are will analyzed and discussed in detail.

The retail store currently use the virtual private network. This technology is used to create
an encrypted connection through a less secure network. It is used to ensure the appropriate level
of security to the connected systems by underlying the network infrastructure alone cannot
provide it. VPN utilizes an open media transmission framework like the Internet to give remote
clients secure access to their association's system. A VPN customer on the remote client's PC or
cell phone interfaces with a VPN passage on the association's system, which regularly requires
the gadget to confirm its personality, at that point makes a system connect back to the gadget that
enables it to achieve inside system assets. Without any type of VPN, your system of PCs and
PoS terminals including databases are powerless against web dangers. There are a large number
of web attacks each day and it is basic to begin constructing your IT safeguards before your retail
association turns into the following digital casualty. The network reference model diagram uses
the both TCP/IP and OSI layer and it is used to describe the roles of each layer. This process is
used to transmit the data between applications and devices. The Network reference model
diagram is shown below (Cisco, 2018).

3. Revised Network Reference Model Diagram for TCP/IP or OSI
The revised network reference model diagram for TCP/IP is shown below.
The retail store reference network model is a great stage for maintaining a venture retail
business that requires effortlessness and a reduced frame factor. This blend requests to numerous
retail arranges that can incorporate the accompanying:
Small store—Specialty shops, markdown retailers
Mini stores—Fuel stations, shopping center outlet
Convenience stores—Pop-up stores, shopping center booths
Managed specialist co-op store—WAN access controlled by specialist organization
This reference network design is generally utilized and merges numerous administrations
into less foundation parts. The small store additionally bolsters an assortment of retail business
application models on the grounds that a coordinated Ethernet switch underpins rapid LAN
administrations. Furthermore, an incorporated substance motor backings concentrated
application advancement necessities, for example, Web Cache Communications Protocol

(WCCP) based reserving, pre-situating of information, neighborhood media spilling, and other
application speed administrations (Security.ufl.edu, 2018).
Preferences incorporate the accompanying:
Lower cost per store
Fewer parts to save
Fewer programming pictures to keep up
Lower hardware upkeep costs
Confinements incorporate the accompanying:
Decreased levels of system strength
Greater potential downtime in view of single purposes of disappointment
Selected hardware and software requirements are,
Cisco ASA 5510 Firewall with SSM-10
Cisco Catalyst 3560E Switch
Cisco Aironet 3502e Access Points
Cisco router
Dell PC
PoS smart phone
Data Center
Ware house
Servers
Cash Register
These hardware and software requirements are used to transmit the data between the devices and
applications in retail stores.
4. Data flow Diagram for both TCP/IP and OSI
Based on current dual stacked network environment must be create the data flow diagram
for TCP/IP and OSI layer. It is used to display the 4 typical network connection that are created
by users in the retail store. It also shows the information and data flow from application and user
workstation. It is shown below.

5. Revised Data flow Diagram
Here, we will create the revised data flow diagram based on the proposed network solution
and it is display the 4 typical network connections that are created by users in the retail store. It
also shows the information and data flow from application and user workstation. It is shown
below (IRMCS Asia, 2018).

6. Discussion and Conclusion
This project is successfully analyzed and discussed the comparison between the ISO and
TCP/IP layer based on network reference model. We can analyzed that the TCP/IP Model is
reliable compared to OSI Model, TCP/IP is utilized for end to end connection in order to
transmit the information through the web. TCP/IP is hearty, adaptable, and unmistakable and
furthermore proposes how information ought to be sent over the web. The transport layer of
TCP/IP Model checks whether the information has arrived all together, it has a mistake or not,
lost packets are sent or not, acknowledgement is gotten or not, and so forth.
