Report
AI Summary
This report delves into network design, specifically focusing on the application of TCP/IP and the PPDIOO (Prepare, Plan, Design, Implement, Operate, and Optimize) methodology. The report explores three network design methodologies: Intelligent Information Network (IIN), Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA), and PPDIOO, justifying the selection of PPDIOO for a new network build. The PPDIOO methodology is chosen because it allows for a structured approach to building a network from scratch, ensuring each step is carefully executed. The report references various sources, including Cisco documentation, to support the chosen methodology. The report emphasizes the advantages of PPDIOO, such as cost reduction and increased network availability, while acknowledging the process's lengthiness. The core of the report is a comparative analysis of network design methodologies, ultimately advocating for PPDIOO for its suitability in the given scenario, where a new network with specific requirements needs to be established. The report also offers a high-level view of network design considerations, including routers, PCs, servers, switches, and dynamic routing protocols.

Options/Methods can be used for Network Design:
As per the requirement of the assessment 4 a network need to be established which will
be consisting router, PC, servers and switch so that a proper network can be created and this
established network need to be configured by a dynamic type of routing protocol. Also, the
clients and the servers connected to different type of network. In this aspect for designing the
network following these requirements three types of methodology can be followed. The first one
is the intelligent information network, second one is the service oriented network architecture
(SONA) and the last one is prepare, plan, design, implement, operate, and optimize or the
PPDIOO methodology.
The intelligent information network or the IIN method of network designing is quite
useful for fulfilling the business related processes. In this type of network design methodology
the designed network is able to ensure that when the business processes will be requiring any
type of important information this network will be able to deliver that information with having
no delay (Cisco Networking: Intelligent Information Network (IIN) Design Methodology –
dummies, 2019). This type of network design is having some pros and cons also. In this aspect
the main pros of this system is that it can provide proper intelligence to the system and this
intelligence will be linked with other IT infrastructures. The main con of this methodology is that
it is very much critical to implement as various of complex task is associated with it.
The next methodology for the network design is the service oriented network architecture
or SONA. The service oriented network architecture methodology is used for redesigning an
existing network system. By using the service oriented network architecture methodology a
traditional type of network can be evolved in an intelligent information network (Cisco

Networking: Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA) – dummies, 2019). This type of
network design methodology assumes that the existing network will be unified and all the
existing data will traverse in a single network architecture. The main pros of this type of
methodology is that any existing network can be converted into intelligent information network
while the main cons is that this type of network design methodology is only applicable for the
networks which is already existing.
Another important network design methodology is prepare, plan, design, implement,
operate, and optimize or the PPDIOO. This type of network designing methodology can be also
considered as lifecycle methodology and it can be also utilized for the management of the
network. In this aspect each of the steps described in the PPDIOO is assigned for performing
different types of tasks for designing the network (Sivasubramanian, Frahim & Froom, 2019). By
following each of the steps properly this type of methodology can help to design the network in
an appropriate manner. The main pros of the PPDIOO type of methodology is that it can assist in
lessening total cost for the network ownership and it can increase the availability of the network.
This also provides the agility of making changes within the network structure (Network Design
Methodology - Network Design - Cisco Certified Expert, 2019). The main cons of this
methodology is that it is very much lengthy process as there are various of steps which need to
be followed properly.
Justification:
In this case PPDIOO methodology of network design will be used for performing the
design. The main reason behind for choosing this type of methodology is that the selected type of
network need to be built from the scratch where each of the steps need to be performed carefully.
Also, no additional intelligence is required for this network design for which intelligent

information network has been not selected here. Also, this network will be built from the very
beginning for which service oriented network architecture is omitted here. Thus, the PPDIOO
methodology has been selected here.
