1TENURE OF THE TEACHERS
The tenure of the teachers is an important consideration that is being undertaken in order
to protect the interests of the teachers and their jobs while they perform the job role. The most
important step in safeguarding the interest of the teachers is based on the concepts of the
improvements that the teachers bring forth in the life of the students. The free functioning of the
teachers in the system helps them in guiding the students in the best possible manner of the
ethics and the norms (Taylor & Tyler, 2012). Education is not constrained by the books and the
assets that are being used in the learning process. The applicability of the ethics in the human life
is a practical form, which is being facilitated by the teachers and therefore, they form the inmost
part of the education system.
The rules and norms that were enforced on the teachers as to their associates and their
activities that constrained their growth. In order to break the bonds of the constraining factors,
the teachers were entitled to the tenures in the late 17th century. The most important step that was
being undertaken in order to break the constraining factors was to ensure the free flow of the
education and the proper functioning of the systems. According to Danielson (2012), the tenure
has helped in undertaking the favorable steps that justified the applicability of the norms on the
teachers and thereby protect the interests of the same. The enforcement of the tenure has helped
in the smooth functioning of the teachers, which did bring improvements in the education
systems. However Range et al. (2014) stated that there are issues and controversies with the
implementation of the tenure as it prohibits the elimination of the old teachers and thereby limits
the scope of fresh talent in the system. The steps that were undertaken in order to safeguard the
interests of the teachers have brought about changes in the structure and the setting of the
education systems.

The applicability of the tenure has helped in the undertaking of the correct choices for the
professors and the others involved in the teaching profession. Thomsen (2014) stated that the
application of the tenure not only safeguards the interest of the teachers but also helps in the free
functioning which helps in enhancing the education system. The most important criteria that is
being undertaken by the teachers are based on the preference of their job roles. On the other
hand, the tenure has insured the job of the teachers and thereby the authorities lost their control
over the functions undertaken by the teachers.
Chris Christie, the Governor of New Jersey, is looking forward to take steps in order to
reform the tenure considering the issues that are being faced by the education system. The tenure
has helped in insuring the jobs of the teachers and the professors. However, it has its negative
impacts too. The negative impacts of the tenure affect the productivity of the educational
systems. Therefore, the governor is taking steps in order to reform the tenure structure and
increase the timing of the tenure to three years. In these three years, the teachers are required to
portray their skills, which will justify their cause for the tenure. The step will help in determining
the multidimensional capabilities of the teachers and thereby constrain the over flooding of the
teachers in the education system (Morrison, Ni & Guzdial, 2012). It helps in determining the
credibility of the teachers to perform their duties in the best possible manner. However, the
reform that was planned faced several oppositions from the teachers and the people who are into
the educational systems based on the effectiveness of the functions undertaken by the members
of the educational council and the teachers.
According to Edwards (2014), the effectiveness of the teachers are based on the liberal
norms and regulations. Therefore, insecurity of the job role is not an intelligent step that must be
undertaken in order to bring in the differences of the change in the educational structure. On the

same context, McNeal (2012) argued that the free functioning of the teachers affects the
educational growth due to their bias approach and their knowledge limited to a single subject.
The most important criteria that constrain the effectiveness of the event is based on the
requirements of the change in the educational systems. it helps in determining the progress that is
being made by the system. The effectiveness of the tenure helps in determining the effective
functioning of the teachers (Figlio, Schapiro & Soter, 2015). On the other hand, the tenure
facilitates their job security, which stops the authorities from taking actions and thereby brings in
fresh talent in the system. Therefore, the tenure has both its positive and negative impacts on the
education system.
