5.1 The effectiveness of teaching and learning approaches used in my area of
specialization to meet the individual needs of learners
The teaching and learning approaches adopted in sports education and development by
me is appropriate to content, for instance, these approaches in planning, delivering and assessing
of the assessments are in alignment with the vocational standards and organizational
requirements of the sports and education industry. The tutor presentation of new concepts and
principles and small group activity like matching card games provide opportunities for work-
based learning. The planning, delivery and assessment of these teaching and learning approaches
help to access the subject knowledge of students in the sports education and development
industry. The teaching and learning approaches like case studies are appropriate to specialism.
These approaches are appropriate to the knowledge content of the students and provide
opportunities to practice skills and group work. This teaching and learning approach is effective
because students get opportunities to practice skills and their understanding is reinforced. The
delivery of inclusive teaching and learning by individual reflective activity, individual research
and individual or group presentations helps to access the learner’s need. The delivery of these
activities is well structured and helps in achieving the necessary learning goals. These teaching
and learning methods promote learning and help to access a range of learning styles of students.
The students can be engaged in active learning by this method.
8.1 Evaluation of the practice in planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and
learning

The learners can be of different types like auditory, visual, kinesthetic and
reading/writing. Different teaching methods were adopted by me to address the specific needs of
each learner. For instance, auditory learners in my classroom were able to remember information
only when they recited the information to me. These learners preferred to hear information, so I
gave them chance to repeat my points by asking questions to them and calling for audience
answers. For the visual learners of my classroom who preferred to visualize information and
infer relationship between ideas, I gave these types of learners graphics and charts. I also made
the presentations that I gave in class related to sports education and development highly visual.
For reading/writing learners, I gave them activities like written quizzes and provided them
handouts of presentations so that they can interact with text. My own review of planning of the
teaching and learning process like SWOT analysis and evaluation of my individual sessions
helps in time-management and has a fit-for-fit purpose. Self review of the teaching and learning
process helps in content coverage and individual skills and opportunities are targeted and
individual goals are met by these method. It is important to review the feedback from learners
and peers and the observation of tutors and mentors help in successful planning, delivery and
assessment of the teaching and learning process. The learner satisfaction and survey and
inspection have provided me insights about the area of my teaching methods which require
improvement. The individual needs of learners can be assessed by this method. The self-
assessment review and personal learning logs are effective in improving the delivery of teaching
and learning process.
8.2 Areas for improvement in own planning, delivering and accessing process
The areas that require improvement in planning process are ability to understand the
objects of students, ability to develop activities for teaching and learning and ability to develop

strategies to check understanding of student. Action planning and working under the guidance of
an experienced practitioner has helped to improve my own practice of planning. Methods like
internal verification at the planning stage, sharing of planning models, support from mentor and
team work to support development has improved my planning, delivering and accessing process.
The area that requires improvement in the delivery process is ability to develop an
interactive classroom and engage students to ensure delivery process meets objective of lesson.
Discussion with mentor, support from line manager, team teaching and observation of
experienced teacher, work shadowing and peer working have helped me to identify areas of
improvement in the delivery process.
The area that requires improvement in the assessing process is to avoid techniques which
are not in alignment with my intuition and judgment as a teacher. Individual research and staff
development and CPD records help in assessing of the teaching and learning process. It is
important to update the technical knowledge and expertise and curriculum requirements should
also be updated. The organization training is important to improve assessing of teaching and
learning process. Work placement in the assessing process also requires improvement.
