Teaching and Learning in Digital World: Infographic and Reflection

This project, titled "Teaching and Learning in the Digital World," presents an infographic and a reflection on the use of digital tools in education. The student created an infographic using Canva, focusing on the educational application of "Scratch," a free visual programming language. The infographic defines Scratch, describes its effective use in educational settings, and outlines its pros and cons. The reflection, approximately 250 words, discusses the student's learning experience during the creation of the infographic and considers how Scratch and similar tools can be integrated into educational practices. The project includes in-text and end-text referencing in APA 6th edition format for both the infographic and the reflection, and the references include sources such as Andriessen et al. (2013), Baleni (2015), Bora and Ahmed (2013), and Fatma (2013). The project highlights the potential of web-based tools to enhance student learning beyond the classroom.

Reflection
Using web based e –tools assists the students to learn beyond that is taught in the
classroom and hence is useful for both the teachers and the students. As stated by Bora and
Ahmed, (2013), several tools can be used to provide support to the students- The information
resources, the cognitive tools, the knowledge modelling tools, the performance supporting tools
and the information gathering tools. In order to search for the e-learning tools, I have come
across several tools that can be used that not only allows the teachers to give a live
demonstration to the students to regarding a particular topic, but also arouses motivation among
the students (Baleni, 2015).
The chosen tool for my Infographic is “Scratch”. It is a free visual programming
language that has been designed for the children of age 8-16 years but can be applicable for the
people of all the ages. This digital device facilitates block programming by using the graphical
blocks for the representation of the program commands. Thus, facilitating improved learning
among the children. Thus my paper and the chosen digital device is justifiable with the
assessment task.
