My learning experience of listening has made me competent enough to enable speaking
and listening skill in my practical life. My experience of teaching demonstration has given me
ample amount of knowledge regarding listening and way to implement the learning in life. The
most interesting things that I have learned regarding speaking and listening is that it helps us to
develop an insight about the way of effective communication. It makes us competent enough to
understand things. It can be said that listening and speaking is the conscious activity which need
to be learned and make into practice in day to day life.

In order to move forward with the course, I would like to learn about the different
approaches by which I can implement my learning in practical life. I would like to learn about
vocabulary teaching and communication skill as these quality are fundamental to the any
professional and personal relationship. Further to enhance my speaking competency I would like
to learn about different rhythm and intonation which is the most difficult part for me.

I was involved in giving a teaching demonstration where I was supposed to provide
listening and speaking education to the elementary students of 12 to 13 years old in Korea. I have
planned to provide the teaching by the mean of audio/video clip and displaying presentation. For

this, I needed internet access and a computer. In my experience of teaching demonstration went
well. I have given them insight and knowledge of present verbs and expression by listening to
the songs and different ways by which they could incorporated them in their daily life. In the
class, student showed great interest in learning and listening to the music. They were showing
great effort in the course. Therefore, I can say that my teaching style of using music was
convincing and good idea to engage the whole class.

In my teaching demonstration though everything went well, I have also faced some
problematic area. Student in the class were having issue in understanding thing regarding what is
needed to be done in the class. In order to ensure that they are able to understand things that is
being taught in the class I should have used appropriate comprehension checking and stated
some examples. One of the activity in my demonstration was related to picking up of card from
box and it was aligned with song playing in the background. I failed in selecting good song as
the song was too fast to listen and student were not able to sing along with it.

To improve my next teaching demonstration, I would pay attention on my previous
experience and will use example and take test to ensure what they are understanding. Further I
will be conscious in selecting songs that fits with the student’s English level and their capability
to understand.

I considered Korean student to be fluent speaker of English as because they have good
pronunciation skill and knowledge regarding grammars and its usage.

To make my student confident and to be fluent in English speaking, I will motivate and
encourage them to communicate in English during the class and with their family members. I
will make them understand the value of English language in their life as this will create a
personal interest to learn English language. I would also instruct them to find their weak point
and give them the ways to work on those weak point. I will encourage them to watch English
documentary movie and read English novel.

Answer no 1.
My teaching demonstration went well, I tried to engage students in the class by telling
them interesting story related to the lesson being taught in the class. Student showed great
interest in the class. I have also made use of background music for palm reading in order to set
the mood and focus in the lesson. I also provided positive feedback to make them correct in their
mistakes.

In my teaching demonstration, though everything went well, I also faced some
problematic areas. I have made use of lot of oral input which has created difficulty in
remembering thing. Further, class was not interesting and interactive.

To improve my next teaching demonstration, I will make use of interesting story and
include those activity that will engage the whole class by making it more interactive and
interesting. I will avoid using any memory related activity as many student do not like the
activity. Instead of that I will include music game as student are more attractive toward it.
