INTRODUCTION
Managing people in any business, academic or any general setting is a crucial task to be
performed including huge efforts. Managing people is a phenomena training, motivating and
directing individuals in the right path that is necessary for productive results and goal
achievement (Robertson, 2019). In the assignment a reflection is provided on team building
skills an essential concept of people management. Discussion is provided over number of team
building skills required by a leader and how these skills personally support them in attaining
range of objectives is respective environmental setting.
MAIN BODY
Reflection upon Team Building Skills.
To start of with my team building skill reflection I will first provide my understanding
about a effective team and team building skills. A group of individuals when brought together by
the employer or by academic professors for a specific goal is known as a team. These team turns
into effective one when all team members with separate skills and competencies are working as
one unit for a common objective and integrating their tasks. Every team or group has a leader
who hold the responsibility of developing a team into effective one and attaining all pre-
determined goals and objectives in the respective time period. In order to do so leaders has to
have team building abilities and skills (Feldman, 2018).
Performances of people formed into a team is dependent upon their leaders, guidance
received by them and clarity of aim. Therefore, team building skills plays a vital role in
developing an effective team and the leader's success through their leadership. Team building is
a collective word which defined those number of activities that are used and performed by leader
for enhancing social relations of team member and defining their roles and responsibility along
with rendering clarity of aims and objectives of the group.
Team building exercises are performed with the aim of identifying and resolving
interpersonal of individuals in the group. There are numerous team building skills which are
required by leaders and essential for them to be effective enough in their particular setting and
which are desired by employers in their employees. Few team building skills which are essential
and used most commonly by all leaders are as follows:

Effective Communication- According to me as a professional every leader necessarily
have to a effective communicator. If you are a team leader and wants to unit your team,
you have to hold strong communication skills. As a leader, some of the feature of you
being a effective leader is clarity, active listener, written and verbal communication,
facilitating group discussion and many more (Bens, 2017).
Problem Solving- In a team there are interpersonal issues amongst members due to
several factors a leader, you have to solve these problems of individuals. The leader has
to become a mediator between the parties in conflicts and actively listen to them and their
problems and then provide them a solution by bringing them to agreement.
Brainstorming, mediation, conflicts resolution negotiation and problem sensitive are few
characteristics of a leader holding problem solving skills.
Leadership- Being a team builder it is often requires to play leadership role for the group
as well. The leaders have to hold potential leadership abilities as well, they have provide
clarity of task to members, make decisions on behalf of the whole team, establish goals
and objectives, resolves issues and make people comfortable. A leader needs to have
sufficient decision making skills, talent management skills, consistency in their actions,
aligning team goals with their firms and to establish standards operating procedure.
Team building is a crucial aspect that defines the effectiveness of a leader and their
abilities to change the group of people into an effective team that is working for similar aim by
integrating their efforts. In above segment of the reflection I have reflected upon effective team,
and team building skills (Owen, 2016).

of some of the practices in my personal and professional life which makes me a good leader and
continuously develop potentials for becoming better in future as well. Few skills of a team
builder which are required by me as a leader and which I hold are effective communication,
