Introduction
Emotional Intelligence refers to capability of the individuals that helps them in
recognizing their emotions along with the emotions of the other people that helps in guiding
their thinking along with the behaviour. It helps an individual in managing the emotions so
that they can adapt themselves to the environments that can help them in achieving their goal.
Self- awareness refers to capacity for the introspection along with ability of the individuals of
recognizing himself as separate from environment along with the other individuals (Myers,
2013). It helps an individual in understanding his own character, motives along with the
desires. This reflective report throws light on the strengths along with the weakness of each
member of the group. The report discusses why the group of the students can help in the
formation of a work group that is effective. This report also talks about the LPA, EI along
with the Clifton Strengths that can help in anticipating areas of conflict in the group. This
report elucidates on a team building activity that can increase effectiveness of team. This
report elucidates on the measures that can be taken by me that can help me in contributing in
a more effective manner to my team.

Potential of the team
The attributes of the emotional intelligence along with the Clifton Strengths can help
a person in performing in a more effective manner within a team. The team member Lillian
Bridgeman is adaptable and knows how to work in harmony with the other people that can
help him in working within the framework of a team. He is endowed with empathy along
with the self-awareness that can help a person in understanding the problems of the other
people. The team member Nicole Schunke has very strong beliefs that can help him in taking
the steps in the company. It imbibes him with an analytical mind that can help them in

understanding the point of view of the other people. The team member Beant Gill is
passionate and have the positive energy that can help him in attaining his vision (Tuckman,
1965). He is strategic that helps in the successful carrying out of a plan. The team member
Victoria Crawford has the ability of taking up responsibility that helps in the successful
carrying out of a project. Victoria is well aware about the strengths in his personality that
helps him in attaining the desired outcome. I have the qualities of empathy and that of
analytical mind that can help me in working in an effective manner in a team. The group of
the students possess the various elements of the emotional intelligence that can help them in
the area of co-ordination in a team.
The Clifton Strengths test revealed that Beant Gill had the discipline that can help him
in planning the events in a proper manner in a team. It can help this team member in
focussing on the timelines along with the deadlines that can help in the completion of task
within the stimulated amount of time. Team member Lillian Bridgeman was futuristic and it
helped him in seeing the future of the events in the long term. It can provide inspiration an
individual that can help him in achieving the positive outcome in relation to the various
projects. The team member Victoria Crawford was a learner that helped him in enriching the
knowledge (Daft & Samson, 2014). It can help a person in becoming competent that can help
him in performing various kinds of tasks in a company. It can help an individual in growing
the skill set that can help in the better performance of a team. The Clifton Strengths test
revealed that team member Nicole Schunke was imbibed with the positivity that can fill him
with energy which can help him in getting the positive results.
Areas of weakness in the team
There are however certain weakness in the team members that can give rise to
conflicts in the event of working within a team. The team member Victoria Crawford is not

consistent that can help a person in carrying out the responsibilities in the proper manner. The
team member Nicole Schunke does not know how to control the emotions that has a negative
effect on the overall performance of the group. The team member Beant Gill is impatient and
becomes angry easily that can have a bad effect on the performance of the team (Kolb,
2014). The Clifton Strengths test revealed that Team member Lillian Bridgeman does not
have the ability of commanding that can help a person in controlling a situation. The conflict
can arise within the team in the event of some members not acting in a consistent manner and
being impatient that can have adverse effect on the performance of the team.
Team Building
Team Building Activity
The team building activity pertains to the holding of the sausage sizzle that can
highlight the strengths of the individual members of the group. The sausage sizzle is
indicative of a community event that is held in Australia and in New Zealand. The
responsibility of promoting the event rests on the shoulder of Lillian Bridgeman who can
handle the responsibility of marketing as he can understand the concerns of the other people.
The food would be purchased by Victoria Crawford who knows how to handle the multiple
responsibilities of a project (Goleman, Boyatzis & McKee, 2002). The students would be
entertained in the sausage sizzle by Beant Gill who has the positive attribute of energy that
can help him in providing entertainment to the people who gathers during the event. The
cleaning up would be done by Nicole Schunke who has the strategic bent of mind and knows
how to communicate with the people (Goleman, 2012).
Analysis and the Reflection
The team member Victoria Crawford in the event of the team building activity was
very impatient and did not want to listen to the intricate details of the experience. The

Emotional Intelligence test revealed that the team member B had the negative trait of being
restless that can have a negative effect on the functioning of a team. The team member Nicole
Schunke had the positive energy and knew how to view the events from a positive
perspective (Stein, Book & Kanoy, 2013). He was able to recount the benefits of the event
that shows a reflection of his positive attributes of character.
I have been able to learn that I can take up responsibility that can help me in working
in a diligent manner in a company. I have the conscientiousness that can help me in effective
carrying out of the duties. I can contribute in an effective manner to the team as I can feel
sense of the duty that can help me in organizing my work along with the events. I am hence
reliable and I have strong skills in time management. I am imbibed with the element of self-
assurance that can help me in retaining faith in the strengths. It can help me in providing me
with useful guidance that can help me in the successful implementation of a project. It can
help me in acting in a confident manner that can reduce the anxiety in the event of working. It
can help me in staying motivated at my job that can help me in getting the positive outcome
(Petrides et al., 2016) I am also strategic that can help me in taking the decisions that can
help a company in being profitable. It can help me in thinking in a different manner that can
help me in seeing the pattern of the events (Mayer, Caruso & Salovey, 2016). It can help me
in analysing a scenario in the proper manner that can help me in finding the solution to a
problem.
There are further improvements that can be brought about that can help me in
contributing in an effective manner that can work for the benefit of an organization. I can
encourage the communication in a team and the open communication can help in the
successful completion of a project (Serrat, 2017). It can help the members of the team in
sharing the ideas along with the opinions that can prove to be useful for a company. I should
encourage the element of the team collaboration that can contribute to the success of the

Emotional Intelligence is indicative of capability of individuals which can help in the
process of recognizing of emotions. Team member Lillian Bridgeman has the empathy and
that of self-awareness that can come to be of use for understanding problems of the other
people. Team member Nicole Schunke is curious and has the analytical bent of mind that can
rightly elicit the point of view of the other people. The team building activity pertains to the
members of the team sharing negative incidents in their life and the other members trying to
ascertain the positive aspects in relation to the event. I have to develop the ability of
encouraging the open communication that can help in bringing about the ending of a project.
The team members can share useful ideas that can help in the process of growth of a
company.
