The aim of the paper is to explore the stages of team development. The paper identifies that on
which stage I find myself that is explained with the real-life examples (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn,
Jr. and Osborn 151).

What stage can you identify in yourself with and why?
In the year, 1965 Bruce Tuckman said that teams go through five stages of the development that
includes forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. The success of the team is
based on great leadership as well as the support of team members during the stages of the
process.
Forming stage - It involves a period of direction and being familiar with this it majorly
focus around the initial entry of the members in a team.
Storming stage- The stage of show period of high tension as well as being emotional
among the group members as they deal with the tension (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn, Jr. and
Osborn 151).
Norming stage- The norming stage forms the association with the purpose to work
organized in the team.
Performing stage- The performing stage shows that the members of the team are able to
deal with the complex tasks and to handle the internal disagreements in a creative
manner.
Adjourning stage: - The adjourning stage majorly disbanding as well as celebrating the
accomplishments of the task.
Being the team member, I have contributed in enhancing the productivity of the team and
supporting them in making effective decisions. After experiencing the team coordination, I
identified myself on the performing stage as I make use of my skills and capabilities.

I found that the performing stage of the team development majorly includes maturing in the
relationship and effectively contributing in the performance of the task (Uhl-Bien,
Schermerhorn, Jr. and Osborn 151). For example; In the last team assignment, me and my
friends formed the group to generate awareness among the people that how diet can affect their
health. The group was formed with the voluntary contribution of the people who wanted to
contribute in encouraging people to improve their quality of life. In the group, I took the
responsibility of dealing with the complex task that was assigned the job responsibility to
different members. Further, I assigned job responsibilities to the different members in the team
meeting where skills of the individual as well as the group were analysed and evaluated. In
addition, I was working as a team coordinator due to which I selected the places where we need
to generate awareness about the benefits of taking the proper diet.
I observed that in the performing stage, the team members are required to be managed activities
that are possible with the good relationship of the company (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn, Jr. and
Osborn 151). In the task of generating awareness, the job responsibility was offered to the team
member by forming a strong relationship. In addition to this, this teamwork left me with good
learning about the need of the team members in the work and their contribution. The learning I
gained include handling members, motivating them, understanding their perspective, relationship
with them, taking correct steps and many others. All these learning of team development is used
by me in my personal life when it comes to managing the relationship. For example; In the
organisation, where I am responsible to meet my accountabilities, I try to push myself with the
motivation to take the complex task and to achieve it with full enthusiasm. However, this comes
with the experience but I believe the self-willingness and good bonding with the team of an
organisation is a major factor due to which the performance of the individual person enhances.
