Factors that can help in improving an ineffective team
Provision of training is one of the most common factors that can help in bringing
improvement within ineffective team as training can help in development of desired skills
within all the team members.
Predefining roles and responsibilities of all the team members can help in reducing chances
of conflicts and can help in completing a task within defined time period (Couturier, 2018).
Setting realistic goals that can be achieved by team efforts can also help in motivating team
members to work upon achievement of desired goals
Reason for weak team performance
Yes, working environment can be one of the reasons behind weak team performance.
Working environment can work as a satisfaction level for employees that help in motivating
them then so that they can work upon enhancing their overall performance of employees. But not
having an appropriate working environment can degrade team performance. For example:
Ryanair had bad reputation of customer service and job satisfaction this was majorly because
they did not have an appropriate working environment due to which employee turnover was
increasing and customer service was getting degraded.
Ways in which group development theories be useful for developing teams
Group development theories are useful for team development in many ways: Belbin team
type theory help in defining roles and responsibilities of all the team embers on the basis of their
strengths and weakness. This theory helps in defining nine main team roles that helps in
development of an effective team. Whereas, Tuckman theory helps in development of an
effective team in four main stages. Using these theories an organization can develop an effective
team.
