INTRODUCTION
When it comes to undertaking and successfully executing a given project or task in a
team consisting of different groups of people, there are many different factors at play which
determine the success of the outcome and skills which are learned by every individual involved
in the execution of the said project. Two of the most important skills which are needed to
function properly in a team and properly execute established goals and objectives are teamwork
and communication which must be exhibited by every team member in a respectable capacity
and lack of any of these skills result in conflict and mismanagement and slowing down of
progress towards set goals (Ilangakoon, and et. al., 2022). This report will showcase a reflective
account detailing the knowledge, team-building and communication skills which were gained
during the execution of the project which was centred on Clinical governance – Patient safety
and quality and will include models of communication, teamwork and reflection such as Gibbs
reflective cycle along with Tuckman's stages of team development to gain a comprehensive
understanding of team dynamic in group projects (Çakıroğlu, Caetano and Costa, 2021).
MAIN BODY
The project that I worked on was based on a complex and sensitive subject of clinical
governance which is a comprehensive system of healthcare which includes the set of tools,
techniques, relations and responsibilities developed by healthcare service providers towards
providing excellent service to it's stakeholders, workforce and patients in need of their services
(Costley and Clark, 2021). The topic was large in scope and included many organizations which
is why a team of 5 people were picked to form a team which would make a seminar project on
the topic of patient service and quality which focused on the various amenities provided by
modern healthcare firms and the hospital sector and the current state of health services in the
country which is a diverse topic requiring input and efforts from all members of the team. The
project although a success proved quite difficult to manage as many obstacles were faced by me
related to avenues of improper communication and poor teamwork skills displayed by members

which also resulted in a lot of personal learning for me (Dahiya and Dahiya, 2018). My personal
experience over the duration of this project has been described in detail here using the Gibbs
reflective cycle which is a widely used tool of reflective writing taking into account all types of
learning and experiences incurred during a task or work (Dirks, 2019).
Description – The project which was initially given to us was on the topic of clinical
governance which is an emerging topic of healthcare especially in the light of the recent
COVID-19 pandemic which has exposed just how weak the structure actually is and it
needs steadfast improvements in many criteria such as infrastructure and patient service
and quality which was the area our seminar project was supposed to focus on The project
was quite comprehensive and detailed research was required to properly execute the brief
expected which is why a group of 5 people were randomly selected to become a team
which was not a good decision in hindsight as people were not picked according to their
behaviours and expected roles to be played in a group setting. I was present during most
of the meetings with the team during every important deadline which arrived and my
efforts were evidenced from the fact that I was punctual to every event that occurred
despite the fact that I was working virtually and had to take care of my kids while
working on a full time basis. The team which was put together for the project that I was
part of was not a perfect combination of people by any sense of the word and my efforts
to show up to every important gathering and meeting was not met by other members with
the same passion and zeal as many displayed slacking attitude and did not join on time
and one member in particular was so picky that he skipped some important meetings
outright (Febriana, Wahyudi and Suharnomo, 2019). Despite facing many issues in
working together, I learned many important things about project execution and teamwork
as I displayed understanding of many important business models pertaining to team roles
and team stages along with displaying standards of leadership as my participation was
vital in deciding of theme of the project and it's eventual completion (Ferrell and Kline,
2018). In order to complete this project the core strength which is to be needed is the
group work, somehow it is important to manage the project work to be covered in a
systematic manner on the clinical governance info that the most effective thing was to
make a better coordination and strategies to manage the assigned task and work with a
steadfast nature and improvement. To make a proper teamwork and to accomplish the

targets and the standards we decided to apply the Tuckman model which eventually
helps in development of teams and also to manage the role of management and leadership
(Gordon, 2018). This is generally being proposed on five stages which are like, forming
stage it is the initial stage in which the team members are unaware about each other and
also for not being aware about the purpose and aim of the assigned work (Sutton, 2022).
There can be different personalities that can be observed in order to maintain all such
professional attributes the insecurity and the desperate behaviour can be observed. So, to
overcome this stage we all had used the work profile, personal maps and other identity
samples through which the connection in the trust for being gained and also a true sense
of belongingness was being objected. In this stage we were completely unknown to each
other and this made it very difficult as due to different kind of nature and thought process
(Khoury, El-Khoury and Ammar, 2020). The second stage is storming this can also be
considered as adolescent. This stage provides the initiative to express the ideas and
thoughts and also to give the point of view regarding the general characteristics (Pendrey,
2022). It implies the interpersonal relationship that manage the creation of different sub
groups and also the contradictory opinions regarding the fiction, conflicts and the
struggles. I analyse that in few days the team members started to express their views and
ideas and I also felt a bit relaxed and comfortable than earlier. Also practises help me in
managing the importance in the diversity in team and also to create a healthy culture with
visible feedback that can be taken from the team members and also the values of the team
to be managed. Third stage is norming, within this time period the team usually evolve
through which the cohesion and the conflicts provides the understanding. The difference
in the ideas and the viewpoints was still being there but all the members were in this
stage have the idea about the functions in the roles of the team and also the efforts in the
contribution which is being made in order to gain the individual ambitions to prove the
result (Maltarich,, and et.al., 2018). I felt in few days to be much more confident as I gain
the clarity that about the ways of working for the clinical governance and also the inner
core strength which is to be objectified. After this stage there is performing as we been
working in a team coordination in this stage. I eventually started to know about each
other’s behaviour and perception and also gain the coordination between them which
reinforce our performance for working in the project group with the dedication and the
Document Page
conflicts are also being reduced. The delivery of the ideas and the thought process in the
seminar project group started to enhance as we eventually managed a high-performance
team by delegating all the responsibilities and task according to the strength and
weakness of every member. I also somehow attended different meetings to know about
the evaluation and also about the effectiveness in work. The last stage in this model is
adjourning it mainly provide the high-performance teams which is generally being made
to cover fully fulfilled with their accomplishment and missions (Nicolini, 2018). I as in
my earlier stage didn’t so much frustration but in the meanwhile after being devoted to
words the task and working procedure analyse that my core strength was to manage all
the work in an efficient manner and I also started to giving the ideas and views in a
proper attentive process. This model helps me to remove these obstacles in the barrier of
being a completely stranger with all the members and shifting towards to create a
stronger bond with all of them and completing the work in a coordinated manner
Feelings – My entire experience that I incurred during the completion of this project on
clinical governance can be summed up as frustrating but fruitful in an overall sense as
despite non-cooperative and in some cases, outright disrespectful team members who
proved to be obstacles in the development of the seminar, it all came together at the end
and I was able to walk away with immense practical learnings in the field of teamwork
and communication in a group setting. Before I was assigned this project, I was feeling
very anxious due to multiple reasons which included the fact that unlike other members, I
was working mostly virtually and my physical presence was not with other people which
might have made a negative impression of me on other team members and I also did not
known any of my four team members on a personal level which makes working and
coordinating with them in a professional setting much more awkward and difficult (Poth,
Kottke and Riel, 2020). When it comes to the feeling of other team members during this
project, I felt that most of them took the task much lightly than I did as unlike me, I did
not feel any sense of urgency in them regarding the completion of the given task as many
of them showed late to the meetings and put off work tom later dates which led to the
decision on seminar theme to occur on the last week of submission and lack of feedback
related to work which frustrated me a lot during the project. Although when the project
Document Page
was completed, I was relieved and I was also satisfied as the entire learning experience I
gained from this activity far exceeds the knowledge we gain from textbooks. Evaluation- While incurring in this project regarding clinical governance I gained mixed
experience related to the assigned task. As in the initial time I was quite frustrated I was
due to the improper coordination between all the group members and also for not having
a proper abstract regarding the work. I was anxious due to the deadlines and the timelines
which were being assigned for the seminar theme. All such things made me frustrated. I
in my initial stage was having no knowledge regarding the leadership role which implied
me to lose my confidence and was under pressure to work and perform in a better
manner. There is also being observed by me that the team management and the
coordination is team is very difficult as there were some team members who were slack
and on the other side some of them were picky that made a huge confusion for
management of the seminar project as everyone have their own to have thoughts, ideas
and their process of working. It was quite difficult for me to manage the work as I have
kids and family to take care of them and to work full time in order to complete this
seminar project regarding the clinical governance as it requires so much of research and
the proper analysis and reporting for which I try to attend all the meeting on time created
a major issue in my general aspects. I was not being able to manage my work as all of my
team members were unknown for me and we were all completing a task virtually that
meet a bit more difficult to know about the strength and weakness of every individual and
to coordinate and communicate with them effectively. This somehow generated and
affected my work (Shabani and Obasa, 2019). Analysis- as this project is majorly being a different subject for me, clinical governance is
majorly implies to have a comprehensive system there is also being seen that all the team
of five members were completely stranger and are working virtually on the project. It is
required to provide the modern healthcare facilities and amenities that are to be
undertaken by the hospitals with their technical and innovative approach. I through all
such analysis understood that some of the things didn’t go well due to the lack of
coordination between all the members and also not having the proper idea about the team
and the working compliances regarding the health sector. In that working procedure I also
went through that the team management and the better coordination is very important in

all the group projects it incorporates the better up taking and also demonstrate the ideas
through which upfront working can be maintained (Söderhjelm and et.al., 2018). There
was so much research work in this project which is required to be managed in a proper
execution. In order to maintain all the research it is important to divide the work in a
systematic manner it also work with proper compassion and dedication. In all such team
members group there are few members who are not at all being interested in working
despite of being told to them for doing the proper research they try to create burden by
not analysing the factor and being so picky. I analysed that project execution requires a
lot of dedication and teamwork (Williams, Woolliams and Spiro, 2020). I also gained that
my core strength this to manage the work and to obtain a decision making in a free spirit.
I channelise my inner strength to guide all the other team members with our respective
ideas to make that project work well and also to accomplish the set standards and goals
made with outright compassion. There was so much conflicts arise in between all of us
with the contradictory ideas and thoughts but on the same time we managed to make the
project to get the proper research by focusing on the meaning to complete the project and
to provide better ideas for the growth and better marks. There was at instance a lack of
feedback which were being observed at the time of project through which our scheduling
was being made out in proper and all the issues were being faced in completing the
project. Conclusion- From under taking this given project in which different individuals in group
of people were being involved in order to accomplish the targets and the skills with the
execution of the project. I analyse that clinical governance is a complex subject and it
requires a lot of research work in order to know about the tools, responsibilities, relations
and the techniques which are being required by the healthcare service to give their output
in order to recover their patients, as management and also to provide efficient service to
the stakeholders and workforce. I analysed that to complete all such product projects
there is required the avenues in the communication as this is the most important part to
work in a team. I could have done better while not being indulging in any frustrating
situations and also try to be confident while learning the expectancy is. Whereas my
outspoken nature help me out to manage the project really well and also to cover it on a
deadline by forcing everyone to do their part in a proper manner. I could have done this
Document Page
project with more dedication by not being anxious and also to improvise my
communication skills in a virtual manner.
Action plan- After the completion of his research work, I gain my inner confidence and
now I am much more motivated and outspoken rather than in an initial stage when the
project was just being started. I am now ready to face all the obstacles and also feel much
confident to talk to strangers regarding my ideas and also about the team working to
connect them and to solve their issues by resolving the conflict. Through this project I
developed the problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, team working
skills and many more. All such skills are now my core strength as I am ready to face all
the future obstacles with clarity of mind and with inner confidence that I can manage the
work and will also being able to express my views and ideas regarding that I find project.
In future if I’m going to gain all such assignments and I will try to be more dedicated and
focus on time management, avoiding conflicts in the team working through which I will
make it up on time and will not repeat any of such issues which were being made earlier.
CONCLUSION
From this above showcase it is concluded that reflection is mainly the personal ideas,
thought process and the individuals on personality depiction through which the ideas and the
identity of the individual can be reflected. The management is the most important aspect through
which the effective growth and the outcome of success can be gained. Gibbs reflective cycle
provides the five stages of persons on individual identity in the methods through which they can
analyse all the given task and assignment in the ways through which they manage to work on it.
Tuckman model is an effective tool that helps in managing to team undergoing through several
stages. The experience that one undergoes while executing a team project was duly explained
using multiple models and the overall amount of learning which was gained was indeed valuable
as crucial skills such as communication, teamwork and conflict management were practically
studied and solved.
