INTRODUCTION
Teamwork and leadership are two different virtues which are strongly associated in the
business, military and volunteerism. This is easily stated that leader lead at the time, teams are
follow leaders for achieving set goals and objectives in better manner. The report is based on
Sainsbury company which is second largest chain of supermarket in the United Kingdom with
16.9% of market share (Chin, 2015). The main purpose of this assignment is that company leader
need to understand the management and different leadership theories. Also they require to
improve in their motivation and performance with the using of application of correct skill of
leadership.
TASK 1
1.1 Discuss the features of effective working team as per Belbin's team role theory
For mentor, it is required to make effective working team who are doing work for
achieving desired goals and objectives in better manner. They need to make strong relationship
with their employees and faster the teamwork. The Belbin's team role is described as under: Shaper role – In a team, shaper role is performing or conduct by mentor who are always
change their nature as per the situation. When they are facing some issue, shapers
maintain positive attitude towards team members and identify the best way for
overcoming with such problems. Implementer role – A leader or mentor play role as implementer in the team and they are
practical, well organised and efficient in nature. Finisher role – In Sainsbury, the main feature of effective working team as a finisher
who are perform role for detect errors and barriers and try to make sure that team are
match to their final deadlines (Cornthwaite, Edwards and Siassakos, 2013). Coordinator role – In the company, mentor as consider as coordinator who are confident
and mature in nature and have effective listening skill. Team worker role – A mentor need to play role as a team worker through which they can
resolve major issues and problems that affects the dynamic teams. Resource investigator role – In an organisation, mentor require to play role as
investigator where they are exploring their employee’s skills and abilities for doing work.

In order to resolve conflicts between two members of single team- In this circumstance
leader needs to know about the technique of clearing all the doubts for creating mutual
understanding between two members. An individual should have problem solving skill
for dealing with various complex situations. The company leader requires to resolve
major disputes or conflicts among team members to reach with target.
From the above two situations it has been assessed that leader must have various skills
and talent for dealing with several problems. For example; how to manipulate others and how to
resolve disputes.
2.2 Evaluate their own skills as a team leader in specific context
As a team leader I need to learn various skills for handling a large team because it is a
very big responsibility to take accountability of multiple individuals. Thus, I have numerous of
qualities and skills which helps me while dealing with various complex situations and issues.
Some of the major talent are discussed as follows-
Communication skills for maintaining positive relations with other subordinates.
Ability to resolve various complicated situations which is affecting organizational
success.
I also know how to manipulate others for completing any complex activities by
encouraging them with the use of various sources.
I can easily resolve complex issues and problems which arise among team members
within an organisation.
I have ability to convince subordinate for reaching with difficult business functions and
activities in better manner.

Appraisal is the examination of personal or real property for evaluating the market value.
In Sainsbury organisation, they are giving appraisal to the employees as per their work efficiency
and effectiveness. Appraisal help in improving team performance and as per their skills they can
functions.
