INTRODUCTION
Business issues are termed as current or long term problems or challenges faced by an
organisation (Rousso, 2020). For the report, selected business issues is “Adopting to new
technologies”. Arcadia Group is a retailing enterprise that is headquartered at London, England.
The company is facing business issues of adopting to new technologies due to several reasoons.
The project is prepared in three parts that are report, reflective writing and personal
development plan.
PART 1
Introduction
Adopting new technologies is said to acceptance, integration as well as utilisation of new
or advanced technology in society. Technological adoption is key for enterprises for the purpose
of staying ahead of competition. In present era, adopting new technology is a serious issue faced
by businesses as it enhances dependency of people on technology, enhances risk of job cuts,
security risk for data as well as expensive to install and maintain (Zhang, He and Yuan, 2021).
The report discusses about positive and negative impact or effects of adoption of new
technologies in a company.
Main body
Positive effects of adopting new technologies in business
 Adapting new technologies helps in building communication between company and its
customers. It assists the customers to ask queries and get information regarding a product.
For example, Arcadia Group adapted a new technology i.e. Chatbots to interact with its
consumers easily in order to solve their queries in less time. It impacts in improving its
relationship with its customers.
 Technological adaptation impacts in imporoving work efficiency and effectively as new
technologies helps employees to keep a track in its process by checking and rectifying
errors in time(Iyer and Jayasimha, 2021). For example, Arcadia group adapts new
technologies to keep a check on its ongoing projects with regards of its available
resources as well as rectifying loopholes in time.
 Adapting new technologies impacts in achieving competitive advantages for the
company by cost reduction by reducing staff, proper material use etc. For example, with

use of new technologies Arcadia Group has gained ability to work on its operations with
less man power as well as utilizes its resources for production with less wastages.
 Adapting new technologies has helped companies to work under emergence of Covid
19. Innovation in technologies assist in working in remote areas and provides work from
home opportunities for the company to still function in this unsuitability (Trappey,
Trappey and Hsieh, 2021). New technologies aid in carrying forward its operational and
production activities for Arcadia Group while following norms and restrictions of safety
measurements for this pandemic by maintaining physical distance and operating from
home.
Negative effects of adopting new technologies in business
 Adapting new technologies also affects businesses negatively as companies and its staff
are more dependent on technologies and machines. Excessive use of new technologies
makes employees dependent in working process. For example, employees of Arcadia
Group can’t even perform a small task without use of this technologies.
 Adoption of new technologies also impact a business negatively by reducing face to
face interaction between its employees, managers and its clients. This results in
reduction of regular communications between co-workers along with establishes an
unhealthy relationship among them. Staff and managers of Arcadia Group uses
communicative software to communicate with each other like skype, messenger, zoom,
etc. even working in a same premise.
 Negative impact of new technologies on business also results in creating distraction in
workplace for employees. New technologies distract employees from their work by
using unusual thing on internet (Liu and Wang, 2021). For example, employees of
Arcadia Group use technology for its entertainment purposes like watching movies,
plying games and using the unusual sites which impacts in delay in task completion. It
also impacts in production for company as employees are not sincere with their work
because of being distracted from new technologies.
 Adapting new technologies affects a business negatively as it costs high for the
company to adapt new technologies in business which include cost of installation,
purchase cost as well as training cost for employees working on it. For example,

employees of Arcadia Group experiences a decrease in productivity while adapting a
new technology for process.
Conclusion
From the above report, it has been concluded that business issue prevent an organisation
from implementing stratgy as well as attaining goals. Adopting to new technology is one of
business issue that is faced by companies presently. Positive impacts of adopting new technology
in a company are achieving competitive advantages, work under emergence, building
communication and imporoving work efficiency. At same time, negative impacts of the business
issue includes more dependent on technologies, reducing face to face interaction, creating
distractions and costs high. Adopting to new technology will give professionals and executives
of entity a sustainable position. Moreover, business issues will assist organisational executive to
effectively learn together with use latest advancement in aspects of technology for smoothly
completing all business practices to achieve desired goals in dynamic business environment.

What is learnt from the module
From the module “Academic Research and Writing”, I have learnt about business issues
that are faced by organisation while perfroming practices or operations. The purpose of the
module is to help understanding of a reader or student for usage of research and writing in
academic and professional life (Tokkozhina, Martins and Ferreira, 2020). In the module, I have
gained knolwdge about harvard referencing system which is popular style to in- text cite working
using author-date system in the content of research. Moreover, I have gained learning about key
business issue that is adopting to new technology that current business for example, Arcadia
Group is facing presently. Moreover, positiev impacts and negative impacts of the business issue
are also learned by me. My learning in the module will help me to achieve at University as I will
complete all project and assignments on time using correct content and citing the text properly.
Why the learning may be important
My aim of coming to University and studing the module is to gain knolwdge about what
is happening in the corporate world. In the module, I have learnt about harvard referencing
system and other topics. Also, I learnt about business issue that is adopting new technology. The
learning may be significant for me as harvard referencing system enable me to follow up

together with locate original source. In my university examination, I will be marked on the basis
of what I know, for this, the learning will show how I know that piencec of information is
referencing any indivodual who came up with this. My learning will help me to achive
University as it improves my attantion and emphaises for business issues, encourage me for
exercising greater potentials for logical reasoning and critical thinking as well as foster learning
experinces in authentic manner.
How is the learning going to be of use to you in your future studies and development plans
The module of ‘Academic Research and Writing’ helped me to learn about haravard
referencing system and business issue. In my future studies, I will use harvard referencing
system for putting citations right after sourced quote or text in some research work for any
company. I my future studies, the system will be used for referencing correctly along with
avoiding plagarism through making it clear which ideas are my own as well as which are of
someone else. It will give support to my ideas, opinions together with arguments. At same time,
learning about business issue of adopting to new technology will be used in my future studies
through using the information to conduct any research working. Moreover, for developmnt plans,
my learning will help me to look towards the area in which I am strong and the areas of skills of
mine that needs development approaches. With this, I will gain be able to work individually and
collectively with others.
