Introduction
Technology has great impacts on corporate communication where some of the impacts are
usually positive and the others are negative. In this memo, we shall discuss some of the major
impacts of technology on corporate communication where we shall use three different articles to
support our arguments.
Technology improves corporate communication
The article “How Technology Has Influenced the Field of Corporate Communication” was
written by Paul A. Argenti based on his earlier article titled “Corporate Communication as a
Discipline: Toward a Definition.” The article presents new information about corporate
communication and also discusses the particular effects of technology in corporate
communication (Argenti, 2006, p.357). The article mainly focusses on the changes, the
challenges, and the opportunities which technology has introduced in corporate communication.
The article also explores the possibilities for research and teaching of technology issues in
organizations as technology has a great role to play in not only the corporate communication

sector but also in many other sectors of organizations. The main message of the article is that
technology helps to improve corporate communication in a great way and corporate
communication mainly focuses on the internal and the external constituencies of organizations
where it involves a number of sub-functions which include the media relations, the investor
relations, the employee communications, marketing communications, among many other aspects.
Technology increases distractions in organizations
The article chosen is the article titled “Top 3 Impacts of Technology on Business
Communication” which was written by Big Think Edge in November 2017 and the article
mainly discusses three major impacts of technology on business communication. According to
the article, the three major impacts of technology on business communication are enhancing the
accessibility of the key staff members, improving the accessibility of information to the
employees, and increasing the distractions in organizations (Big Think Edge, 2017). The main
theme of our concern is on increasing distractions where we can say that technology has
introduced some social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and many others and these
platforms distract the employees as they waste most of their time on these platforms instead of
concentrating on their assigned duties.
Technology improves the speed of communication
The article considered is the article titled “Effects of Technology on Business
Communications” which was written by Miranda Morley in March 2018. The article discusses

the main effects of technology on business communications. According to the article, the main
effects of technology on business communication are increasing the speed of communication,
expanding the communication opportunities, making the communication more deliberate, and
increasing distractions in businesses (Morley, 2018). The main theme of our concern is on
increased speed of communication where we can say that technology makes it easy to
communicate instantly with people in different countries using some communication tools like
emails, messages, among other communication tools. Therefore, we can say that technology
makes it possible for the people to communicate very fast regardless of their geographical
locations.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we can say that technology has impacted corporate communication in a
great way. Organizations should incorporate the best technologies in their communication sectors
to enjoy the many benefits of technology in corporate communication. Also, the organization
should be keen to address the major challenges which result from the use of technology in the
communication sectors of the organizations.
