1. Introduction
1.1 Background
As per research done by Santisteban and Mauricio (2017), technology based start-ups
have been an important asset in the development of the economy of the Oman. The growth and
competitiveness in the market has been increasing in the Oman. Several firms have been
providing outsized contribution for employment, productivity and growth in the market.
Policymakers have been focusing on the high growth and start-ups. These firms have been
providing a smart approach in the market. Entrepreneurship has been a dynamic process of
creating incremental wealth. Many start-ups have been prevailing in the Oman market. Start-ups
have been facing difficulties in surviving in the competitive market (Noe et al. 2017).
Technological start-ups have been contributing 5% to the total economy of the Oman
government. Start-up companies have been helping in enhancing the economy of the country.
The attractiveness of market place has been measured by its rate of growth and competition in
the market (Shin et al. 2017). The competitive advantages in the market has been maintaining a
keen approach in the development of the startups. This research will focus in identifying the
factors that are responsible for surviving of technical start-ups.
1.2 Problem statement
The major problem faced by the technical start-ups is related to their survival factors in
the market. The competition in the market has been increasing on a daily basis. This has been
creating an alarming situation for the start-ups in the market many huge companies are looking
for buying up these small start-ups in the market to finish the competition (Moen and Rialp-
Criado 2018). Therefore, survival factors in the competitive market has been an essential thing

for start-ups. This research will help identifying these survival strategies to maintaining their
competition in the market.
1.3 Aim, Objectives and research questions
The aim of the research has been focused on identifying surviving factors for technical start-ups
in the Oman.

2. Literature Review
2.1 Concept of technical start-ups
As per research done by Kuschel and Lepeley (2016), technical start-ups have been
focused on technology based services and solution provided to the clients. These organizations
have been responsible for providing technical requirement of the clients in the market.
These startups have high growth potential and both employment and revenue. Therefore,
these start-ups seeks more enthusiasm towards developing innovative ideas and thoughts. They
have been facing many financial losses in the market. The R & D of these technical start-ups
have not been properly financed due to lack of financing companies (Castiglioni and Adam
2018). The business model of these small companies have been weak due to which companies
are nit bake generate revenue in the market. As research dine by Colombelli, Krafft and Vivarelli
(2016), the success factor of these factors have been maintaining a keen approach in the
development of the market. The economy if the country has been depend in the number of
employment in the country. These small technical companies have been able to provide better
opportunities for many young generations for getting a job. The technical angle of these paper
has been focused on attracting skilled and talented employees in the workforce. The
policymakers in the startups have been helping in making decisions in various stages. As
research done by Arshad, Rasli and Khan (2018), there have been much attention provided on
the new technical startups. These startups have been suggesting different ideas and knowledge
towards the development of the country. The role of technical start-ups in the economy
development of the country. Various entrepreneurs are coming up in the market that have been
showing a development path for all other users in the city.

approach in the development of the startups. The technical startups have been facing a lot of

companies have been framed with various demand cases and depends on its business cycle. The

competitor in the market. Various industries in the market has been helping in increasing their
growth rates and development of revenues in the market.

3. Research methodology
Research methodology has been providing a scientific approach to the development of
the research. Research philosophy is of two sections as positivism and interpretivism. Positivism
research methodology has been helping in providing a scientific and approach ti the research. It
refers to existing theories and models regarding research topic. The interpretivism focuses on
subjective manner of gathering information related to the research. It deals with the public
opinion about the research topic. The researcher will use positivism research philosophy.
Research approach has been of two types as deductive and inductive research approach.
Deductive research approach focuses on the research hypothesis generated in the research.
However, inductive approach refers to objectives of the research. Therefore, the researcher will
use inductive research approach as there are objectives in the research.
Data collection has been an important part of the research. primary and secondary data
colectuon metod has been two types of data collection method. Primary data collection method
has been focused on collecting raw data related to the research topic. The secondary data
collection method has been focused on collecting data from secondary sources including online
journals and books. However, this research has selected primary data collection method. Online

survey has been collected using 100 participants. There have been 10 close ended questions
included in the survey questionnaire.
Quantitative and qualitative analysis has been two types of data analysis part. The forts part
discusses about several pats of data collection from primary data sources including surveys. Data
has been collected from primary data sources including online survey. On the other hand the
second part including qualitative data analysis method has been focused on the secondary data
collection method and data has been collected from online journals, articles and books. However,
this research has used primary data collection method. This include data collection from
conducting online survey with participants. Likert scale has been used in the research that is
ranging from 1 to 5. Several utilization of graphs and charts have been done in order to represent
the results and outcomes of the research. The research has been following several ethical
consideration included in the guidelines of academic research. Therefore, information will be
kept private under data protection act 1998. This include that the personal data of the participants
will not be used in the research until their permission. There will be no data tampering done
during the data analysis part.
