Introduction
It is worth mentioning that being healthy is of utmost importance for living well and achieving
longevity. It can be stated that in the business realm employers want their employees healthy as
healthy employees are more productive and have fewer rates of absenteeism. Healthy employees
also tend to use less of their health insurance resources (Haines, Andrew and Jones 2014).
Therefore it can be stated that managers and employers are required to reflect upon the wellness
objectives and policies of a company. However, employers are often faced with the problem of
implementing the wellness measures in the work place. This research will analyze the solutions
to the aforementioned challenge.
Employers are also required to consult and discuss the ramifications prior to implementation of
the health policies with the employees and professionals. This research will tend to shed light
on how employers implement policies which provide incentives to the employees to lead healthy
lifestyles. This research will also take into consideration the costs of implementation of the
policies that will motivate the employees to maintain healthy lifestyles.
Statement of the problem
The problem that is being considered in this research is in relation to the factors that plague the
implementation of the policies of the employers which aim to uphold the wellbeing and the

It can be stated that employers are very concerned about the well being of their employees and
also about the drastic increase in the healthcare costs. It is due to the rising cost of health
insurance many people tend to avoid buying health insurance policies. It can be inferred that
employers are looking for ways to reduce the costs of implementation of the healthcare policies
and also want to enhance the productivity and health of the employees (Scott, T. I. M., et al
2013). One of the initial problems that act as a hindrance in the implementation of the healthcare
policies and that act as a hindrance in the examination of wellness programs in the work place is
that no regulatory, statutory definition of the term ‘wellness program’ exists. It can be stated that
a single definition of wellness program is not provided by the healthcare, management, legal or
statutory authorities (Grol, Richard, et al 2013).
One of the important solutions to ensure wellness of the employees is conducting blood tests of
the employees. These blood tests involve a trained examiner drawing a drop of blood of an
employee with the prick of a finger and placing the blood on a glass film (Drake, Robert, 2015)
These blood samples are then tested by placing them in a machine which measures the blood
glucose and cholesterol. It is worth mentioning that can conducting blood test of employees can
act as a vital solution in implementing the wellness measures in the workplace. The results of the
blood tests will give the employer a clear picture of the health condition of the employees.
Another solution that can be proposed to solve the problem of implementing a wellness program
in the workplace is creating a communication plan. It is worth mentioning that creating a culture
of wellness is not possible without reinforcement. Employers can thus be advised to formulate a
communication plan which lays down the framework of the wellness program and different
methods of communicating the information to the employees oof the organization in
consideration.
