AI Summary
This essay, addressing the role of technology in decision-making, begins by identifying two key system-oriented technology trends: IoT devices and Software-Defined Infrastructure (SDI), highlighting their features and benefits in the context of Information Systems (IS). It then discusses two crucial computing capabilities—speedy computation and enhanced collaboration and communication—and their significance in facilitating effective managerial decision-making. The essay further explores how information systems and tools, like Human Enhancement (HE) technology, can help organizations overcome the cognitive limitations inherent in human thinking. Through this analysis, the essay emphasizes the importance of technology in streamlining decision-making processes, improving efficiency, and gaining a competitive advantage in the business world. The paper concludes by summarizing the contributions of each of the technologies and capabilities in the context of decision making.

1DECISION-MAKING WITH TECHNOLOGY
1. Introduction
Decision making is one of the most significant activities of commercial organizations
which is trying to make a technological change in their business environment (Botta, De
Donato, Persico & Pescapé, 2016). There are diverse categories of processes and factors
which has to be considered before bringing any sort of the technological change in a business.
This essay shall be focussing on two types of technology trends related to the decision
making of the Information Systems, the features of those technologies shall be discussed in
this essay. The essay shall also focus on two computing abilities which can facilitate the
decision making procedure, these capabilities shall be discussed in this essay as well. This
essay shall also focus on how information systems and technology to help organizations
overcome the limitations of human thinking.
2. System / Technology Trends
The two diverse categories of technology trends which supports the IS decision
making in the field of decision analysis in recent years are as followings:
IoT devices are very much significant to make strategic business decisions. These
devices are very much useful due to the presence of the new level of automation and
management of the networking issues of the IS (Wang et al., 2017).
Software-defined infrastructure (SDI) is the other technology trends which aim in
improving the decision making procedure related to the IS which are deployed in a
corporate business environment. The entire control of the IS can be managed and
administered with the help of this technology trend.

The features of these technologies which can be very much useful to bring a
technological change in the industry of DSS are as followings:
IoT: Self-discovering and the self-awareness ability of the diverse categories of IoT
devices are very much useful to deal with the issues which occur when an
organization or an industry like DSS is going through a technological change.
Software-defined infrastructure: The data centre agility of SDI and the
configuration rollback ability of this open-source technology is also very much useful
to manage the speed of delivery of the network resources as it is very much
significant while going through a technological change in the DSS industry (Lin,
Ravichandiran, Bannazadeh & Leon-Garcia, 2015).
3. Capabilities
The two capabilities of computing which can facilitate good managerial decision
making in a commercial environment are as followings:
Speedy computation: Every managerial decision making must be very much accurate
and it must be done in a faster procedure. Hence, it can be said that the speedy
computing procedure is also very much required in the managerial decision-making
procedure as the business conditions keep on changing every moment (Atsan, 2016).
The scalability issues as well as the flexibility issues which are faced by the managers
who make the strategic decisions can be reduced in the first place with the help of the
speedy computation procedure.
Collaboration and communication: Some of the complex IS systems requires the
collaboration of different categories of resources and effective communication is
required among each of the resources so that the best quality services is obtained from
the technology which is going to be incorporated in a business environment.

These capabilities are very much significant for business to gain a competitive
advantage in the business sector (Luan, Reb & Gigerenzer, 2019). The delay in the business
transactions which are done by the IS can be minimised in the first place with the help of the
speedy computation.
The common goals of the IS and the organization can get disrupted due to the lack
of collaboration. The productivity of the organization can be boosted if there is an effective
communication plan in each of the decision-making procedures.
4. Cognitive ability
The numerous cognitive limitations of human thinking such as the inability to solve
complex problems can be improved with the help of diverse categories of technologies and
tools such as Human Enhancement (HE) technology (Pariseau‐Legault, Holmes & Murray,
2019). At the same time, it can also be said that the converging technologies can also be very
much useful to enhance the cognitive limitations of human thinking as well.
5. Conclusion
IoT devices, as well as SDI, are the two technology trends which support the IS
decision making in the field of decision analysis. The self-awareness and self-discovering
ability of the IoT devices are useful to deal with the issues coming from a technological
change. SDI is very much useful to main the speed of delivery of the network services, which
is a huge source of concern whenever a new technology is introduced in business. Speedy
computation and enhanced communication and collaboration are the two prime capabilities of
computing which can facilitate the decision making procedure of a commercial environment.
Issues like delay in business transactions and managing the common goals of the business
and the new technology can be resolved using these two computing capabilities, and these
features can provide a business a competitive edge over the other organizations also. Human
