Introduction
In the last few years, there are various technologies which have been developed and it directly
impact on driver safety from GPS to see the backup cameras, driver support system, Google
maps and many more. Some designs help improve safety measures while others have a different
primary motive but still, they offer additional safety elements. In this assignment, the research
will be conducted on analyzing the impact of technology on driving safety. For this, data will be
collected and gathered by using secondary which includes books, articles books which refer to
different scholars and authors who are giving their views or opinions. The report will help in
understanding the impact of technology on safe driving which directly effects on the individual.
The main purpose of the research is to analyze the advancement in the modern world and reduce
the accident ratio which is happened on the road. Also, discuss what type of technology is used
by the driver to make itself secure and safe from a huge accident by following safety rules and
regulations.

Research Problem
This research topic is helpful in make drive safe and secure for the driver as well as others. In
this report, it will discuss the impact of current technology which is having on the driving
experience. It will assist in creating awareness among people about the positive impact of
technology on safe driving. Apart from this, the use of mobile phones while driving is observed
as the negative impact of technology on people life. There are various problems which are faced
by researchers while conducting this investigation was the execution of such technologies. It can
be analyzed that some of the manufacturers are not implemented such technologies in the
vehicles.

A literature review is determined as the review of various books and articles which are accurate
with the current research topic. This involves existing knowledge which assists in analyzing,
finding, theoretical and methodological contributions with the help of different scholars and
authors perceptions regarding a particular topic. Along with this, the literature review is mainly
consisting of a secondary method of data collection that will assist in examining the authentic
information regarding specific investigation theme. Also, this will aid in identifying the various
aspects associated with research in a better manner.
Impact of technology on safe driving
According to the view of (Simons-Morton, et. al., 2016) currently, technology is creating a huge
impact on the driving pattern of an individual as such days people are drawn towards lead
towards using an advanced technology which mainly focuses on the road. Technology is always
evolving but how this will impact on safe driving of road users. Along with this, there are
various technologies which directly impact on safe driving such as Google Maps and Street
View, GPS and navigator, thermometer, cameras, sensors, and warning system. Crowdsourcing
is mainly used to obtain the GPS which determined the actual location where an individual
requires going and this will make the drive safe and secure. There are various mobile
applications are provided by Google is Google Map, which is the most reliable mapping services
providing area or location information with the help of satellite imagery. This is the online
technology which help in safe the driving of a person and through which they can easily reach
with their desired location without stuck in the traffic.
In the words of (Wang, et. al., 2017) today there are various companies which are mainly
focused on providing vehicles that have an autonomous braking system and they are offering a
wide range of technology made vehicles. The automatic cars have some features which include
safety measures and techniques which provide security to an individual while driving on the
road. Along with this, there are different car companies which are adopting technology where an
individual is using mobile phones which are hands-free. Such technologies are directly impacting
on safe driving which helps a large number of people to protect themselves from any danger by
using advanced technology. With the help of navigator or GPS, a person can add the location

where they want to reach and after that follow the direction of the map. This will assist in
providing accurate direction where less traffic is observed.

positive and negative manner. With the help of new and advancement in technology, the change
in life and take it to a new level. It is the method which assists in developing new thinking and
doing the normal task in a different manner, better and more improved way at a reasonable rate.
Technology is an important process which helps in updating and upgrading the In this, GPS
technology is an important system which is mainly used by a number of people while driving
vehicles and they are using GPS for directing the location. The positive impact of the GPS
system is that this is a very simple and easy method of navigation. Navigation is considered as an
art because of the accurate usage of a map and it compasses the GPS unit. Along with this, GPS
is the method which bolstered economic growth and development. The negative impact of the
GPS system is often out of date and expired and sometimes they do not have current maps and
direction of the destination. The drivers are become more dependent on GPS direction and path
to navigate without them.
According to the view of (Larkin, 2018) backup cameras are the special type of video camera
which is developed and produced specially and its main purpose is to be close to the rear of
vehicles to support in backing up and it improves the rear blind spot. The positive impact of this
technology is that vehicle reversing cameras is helpful for saving money and also reduces minor
accidents. This is that technology which assists drivers in increasing its reflectivity behind to see
the backside of the vehicle. This will make drivers more aware of the security of children and
animals in their vicinity. On the other side, the negative impact of rear cameras is that most of
the drivers reflect the problem which is not easy to get the card off the camera. Such a camera
has various functions which cannot adopt by the driver at the same time.
The theory of adaptation of road safety is considered as psychological their which assume that
the human being is trying to adapt their behavior or attitude to the environment. In his, the
hypothesis of risk compensation is argued that roads are safe if drivers are drive slowly on the
road which reduces the accident possibilities. It can be analyzed that efforts are made the safe
drive with the help of roads are free from dangers which are secure human life. In this theory,

understand the positive and negative impact of technology and learn how to drive safe without

still offers extra safety measures in a better manner. It can be described that safety procedures
such as airbags and other technologies are developed for safe driving. There are various useful
technologies which can help in safe driving to an individual. GPS navigation is the great method
for the vehicle which can assist in finding out the new locations and places in an easy manner,
confidently and more safely. This will assist in increasing the safety process which is related to
driving at the time of introducing the direction and correct road visuals (Winkle, et. al., 2018).
This will make driving easy and simple for the people. This is a great way to reduce the accident
and more comfortable while going out of the station because it helps in providing directions and
view of the road inaccurate manner.
Another is Google maps and Street View is that method which is used by people before
departure from any destination or location. This will help in seeing the direction or route,
intersections, exist and reach with the desired location. The collision avoidance systems are such
technology where vehicles are equipped with the collision avoidance system use sensors,
cameras, and radar which help in detecting an imminent crash and also alert the drivers to take
necessary actions to protect from the accident. This technology will help in reducing the chance
of major injury and accidents and make safe driving.

in vehicles
There are various issues and challenges are faced by government and companies while
implementing technology in vehicles. As per the views of (Pütz, et. al., 2019) GPS is the
systematic method and technology which help people in reaching with the final destination. It
can be seen as the issue for government because this will help in tracking any person’s location
where they want to go. This is also analyzed that some people are thief and stocker who can use
such technology for monitoring someone’s location and can perform any unethical action.
Automobile Companies also face a major challenge and issue while implementing a GPS system
in their vehicles. GPS tracking system can conduct some misappropriate offensive messages of
an employer which lack trust in its employees. This will create an uncomfortable relationship
between employer and employee and this can negatively impact on staff member morale.
The challenge faced by the government while implementing backup cameras in the vehicles is
that they are explained the reason why they execute such technology in the cars. For this, they
are conducting various campaigns and program where they are creating awareness among people
to the reason behind the implementation of reverse cameras in vehicles. On the other hand,
companies also faced some issues at the time of executing the reverse cameras in different
vehicles like cars and so more (Gish, et. al., 2017). They are a focus on the major challenge
which creates a bad impact on their automobile company goodwill and image in the large market
place. The major issue is the quality of camera lens and poor image quality which is most likely
to cause the dirty lens. There are many cameras which are straddling low on the back of the cars
and they are endangered to being hidden by snow, dirt and other rubbish.

Automobile Companies need to develop self-driving cars which help in reduces the accident
ratio. They can make innovative safety features for vehicles which are manufacture for safety
purpose (Hsu, et. al., 2017). Along with this, they need to make continuous improvement in such
technologies to prevent road accidents and reduce the risk of road users face everyday life. They
can formulate and develop more effective safety technologies which protect the life of humans
from accidents.
