TECHNOLOGY IN INDUSTRIES
Introduction
In the modern times, the implementation of technology is being observed in majority
of the industries because of significant advantages that are provided by various technologies.
The fast food industry has been integrated with various technologies that helps in functioning
of the companies and simplifies several processes of the companies. This report aims to
analyse the transformation of the fast food industry with the introduction of modern
technologies. A description of the technology that has impacted this industry has been briefly
described in this report. The role of the apps on smartphones has been briefly stated in this
report.
Description of technology
The company KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken has been using the technology of
drones for delivering the orders of customers to their homes. The company intended to launch
an innovative product in various markets all around the world. The company introduced
drones in their delivery process that would ensure significantly faster delivery of the products
to the customers in any region. The company executed the analysis of the most ordered
regions and programmed the drones to deliver the products to those regions. The smoky
grilled wings of KFC was initially delivered to the popular areas in Australia using drones.
Apps on the smartphones
The introduction of the ubiquitous connectivity as well as the Internet of Things are
efficiently reshaping the methods by which the restaurants serving fast foods are serving their
customers (Yang, Goodsir and Poulston 2019). Several businesses are introducing their
personal mobile applications that would work on the smartphones of the common people. The

mobile applications allows the customers to place their orders of food using their
smartphones (Zabeen, Wei and Lu 2016).
From this image, it could be observed that the customers were facing significant
difficulty in placing their order in the fast food company as the correct order specification
was required to be conveyed to the waiter who was accepting their order and in this process,
significant time of the customer were wasted. This led to significant dissatisfaction with the
services that were provided by the company. With the introduction of smartphone app in the
fast food companies, the customers could place their order from anywhere and get it
delivered or even take it from the shop.
Benefits of acquiring data
Data has been considered as the significant priority for the businesses of all sizes.
Business intelligence as well as data analytics are helping in driving the business decisions
more efficiently (Ghaani et al. 2016). The online platform of the fast food companies holds

restaurant. The fast food industry is initiating the capturing of customer data for making
significantly improved business decisions that finally helps in generating extra revenue of
sales (Talwar 2018). The main process that is executed is the ordering data is sent directly to
the fast food companies as input in their respective databases and then this data could eb
analysed by the marketers and gain the information for determining anything that ranges from
the best product that is preferred by the customers to what kind of promotions are working
most effectively for the company (Dastane and Fazlin 2017).
Implications on shops
In past, the brands could easily get away with efficiently misleading the customers
with several labels as well as copywriting, but in the presently connected world, it is
becoming significantly harder for the companies to execute this scheme (Nainaar and Masson
2018). The social media as well as smartphones have effectively connected the customers
with significantly huge information regarding various harmful effects. The restaurant
establishments such as Taco bell, pizza hut and various other companies are presently
providing significantly effective methods of delivering the mobile experience that is
providing effective satisfaction among the customers. For the fast food industry, the
introduction of technology has helped the customers to order easily using the online
application. More than half of the transactions that are made with the fast food industry are
presently handled effectively by the applications. It has been analysed that the social media as
well as the mobile applications produces significantly huge amount of data and majority of
the data is regarding the customers who visits the restaurants of the fast food industry. When
the customer visits the restaurants and post any feedback on the social media, this data is
analysed by the restaurants for determining the preferences of the customers and improve the
services that are provided by the restaurants.
