Introduction
In the modern world of business, the value of time and technology has increased
tremendously. Almost every sector and domain of business requires quick decision making and
execution of actions in order to succeed in their respective areas and regions of operations. This
has made the managers and authorities of business and trades to use high end and technologically
advanced devices to carry out their activities and operations of management related to their
respective businesses. The purpose of the following report is to evaluate the different ways that
are used by managers of businesses from various domains to utilize Tablets for supporting their
decision making processes. The report will cover the entire positive as well as the negative
aspects of using Tablets in order to make the decisions related to business processing, operations,
management and even monitoring. This will also discuss the significance of using mobile
decision support and other use of technology to carry out the important operations. Another
major scope of this report will be the descriptions related to the implementation and usage of
hand held devices like tablets and how these devices can catapult the operations regarding profit,
quality decision making, efficient management and monitoring of systems related to business.
Critical Review
Following three journals that are relevant to the considered article of using tablets by
managers for making managerial decisions. These journals have included near about many
similar vies mentioned by many authors.
1. The Effect of Mobile Business Intelligence on Managerial Decision Making
The prime focus of this article has been on the implementation of Mobile Business Intelligence
for taking managerial decision by the management authorities of any organization. The

significance of using Mobile Business Intelligence along with the different areas in business that
involves the usage of the same has been highlighted in the Article. The different stages that the
technology has gone through have been mentioned in the article including 3G transmission
through wireless communication technology that helped in revolutionizing the Business
Intelligence technology (Buchana and Naicker, 2014).
2. Influence of Task Individual Technology Fit on the Attitude and Performance of
User
This particular journal has described the different uses of Task Individual Technology fit into
the domain of Business Management and decision making process. In addition, the prime
components of this technology fit have been included in the journal along with the explanation of
its functions with the usage of a flowchart. The Informative Guidance Design has been explicitly
described with the usage of technical specifications. It can be said that the primary research that
has been done in making the journal has provided explicit results regarding Task Individual
Technology Fit (Parkes 2013).
3. Identification of ideal fit among mobile work support and mobile work
The journals talks about the balance that needs to be maintained while doing business related

operating any business and monitor the same. Moreover, the technology can be depended upon
as a very reliable source for efficient calculations and conversions into different forms.
According to Laudon and Laudon (2016), with the usage of technology, the calculations of
numerical and statistical units and quantities can be easily done, and they can also be converted
in to different forms like Graphs and pie charts and other understandable as well as convenient
data formats. In addition to this, the various tasks like communicating with a person over a long
distance can be done in fractions of seconds with the use of technology. This can be done by
more conveniently by using a hand held devices like laptops and tablets and connecting them to
the internet. It can be stated that tablets are the most convenient sources and mediums of online
operations. This is because of the lightweight nature of Tablets and wireless modem devices and
pods. This enables the user to have a conference call with multiple other users simultaneously.
The operations can also be done from any specific place as the user or manager does not need to
be at his office for operations. As per Bočková et al. (2016), the business related operations can
also do while travelling, which gives it a tremendous advantage over other ways and methods of
doing business.
Origin of the usage of Tablets in Business
The use of computers for business operations has been in existence since the early
twentieth century. The efficiency of computers in calculations and other statistical operations
makes to very compatible for using different operations. As mentioned by Xiao et al. (2016), the
fashion of using macro computers like I-pads and tablets came into being in 2010 when it was

businesses are carried out in different regions, and the operational locations are present at
multiple places. In addition, the trades between two or more parties are increasing every day.
This has increased the interaction that is needed for doing business. Since, it is not possible for
the managers and other authorities of business located at various locations to interact among
themselves, the need of using tablets and other devices increases significantly. Lanza et al.
(2017) have mentioned that managers became very mobile with the increase in the competition
in the market of business as everyone is striving to be the frontrunner in his respective domain.
As a result of this, the management authorities, strategists and other decision making staff
needed to be on their toes for taking quick decisions. Hence, they started using tablets so that
they can interact with their consultants and advisors as well as they can check the current status
of every parameter related to their business.
Theory of Task Technology Fit
The theory of Task Technology Fit or TTF Theory can be described as the study that
discusses the different aspects of decision making with the support of technology, especially
Tablets. As specified by Nicholas and Steyn (2017), the Task Technology Fit Theory talks about
the characteristics of all the three different aspects, which are the Tablets, Managerial Tasks and
the Management level authorities. The Tablet characteristics are all about the different properties
of tablets like agility, light weight and mobility of hand held devices. This enables the managers
to take quick decisions related to their business and other areas. On the other hand, the
characteristics of managerial tasks and decisions are all about the various types of tasks that are
required to be done by the management staff in order to make their business survive as well as

types of ways and methods that are used by managers for getting their tasks done. This includes
the specialized techniques and ways that a manager uses for analysing the data and making his

According to Peppard and Ward (2016), the Technology Task theory is constructive
regarding decision making as it is a combination of every different way. This ensures that all the
characteristics are compared and the best and most compatible with the decision that needs to be
taken. Moreover, the different characteristics of different managers and management tasks
decide the factor of success for any particular organization. This is because the different ways
that have been used to take the correct decision as per the urgent situation are significant.
However, Shim et al. (2016) has stated that the characteristics of Tablets do not matter much
regarding decision making of different managers from various domains because the features are
same or quite similar to each other. The tablets that are manufactured by different firms might
have different characteristics, but the primary and basic operations remain the same. The
managers can choose the tablets for themselves depending on the different characteristics and the

details, software advantages and some other similar technical areas of descriptions. The allocated
article that has been provided has mainly focused on the usage of tablets and the advantages that
are enjoyed by the managers and other important people related to business regarding enhancing
their business productions and corporate images. However, the other article that has been
considered for the study has described the similar things along with the technical details. The
latter article has mainly focused on the technical specifications of tablets and how do they vary
as per the need of different businesses. Following are the different literature gaps that have been
found between the allocated paper and the article that has been considered for review.
Memory of Tablets
This description of tablets has been given in the later considered article as it describes the
amount of memory that is present in a Tablet. According to Garrigos-Simon et al. (2016), the

Regarding data calculations, Liu and Guo (2017) have described that some specific softwares are
considered by managers. In addition to this, the Internet speed also matters a lot when it is about
